Saving some food for later.
Shadowfang the sword from its position began telepathically communicating with Shadowfang various information it could perceive within it's limited range. One of the Mind Flayers grabbed Shadowfang the sword and attempted to turn it into a Mind Blade. Shadowfang the sword fought back. The Mind Flayer wasn't prepared to defend itself from the psyche of a weapon, especially not one as strong as this one.
While the Mind Flayer was disoriented from Shadowfang the sword's attack Shadowfang threw his sword into the head of the disoriented Mind Flayer. While attempting to catch his sword as it returned one of the Mind Flayers tackled him to the ground. "Big mistake." Shadowfang growled. Shadowfang breathed fire into the face of the Mind Flayer. The Mind Flayer recoiled and as it stood up was impaled by the Shadowfang's sword returning.
Shadowfang knew of the newcomers. He didn't think much of their entrance. To reliant on the whims of a patron. If the Mistress of Magic dies again they are useless.
Tav, Demonsbane, Fera, & Shi'za as they approached were attacked by knights from Neverwinter under the thrall of the Mind Flayers. They were given no choice but to kill them. Tav knew from what the government official told them these thralls were less than the amount sent to kill the Mind Flayers. Either more are waiting inside or they were turned already or turning now.
Shi'za didn't have any qualms about killing those knights as they were no longer human but Mind Flayers waiting to be reborn, and Mind Flayers waiting to be reborn are Mind Flayers in her eyes, just less ugly. Demonsbane had some qualms but battle dictated survival and survival demanded these thralls die. Fera couldn't care less if these knights were thralls or not when it came to killing them, she did care if they tasted any different. Fera killed all but one who approached her. She broke his spine at the neck rendering him paralyzed. "I'll deal with you later." She then licked her lips.
Tav always preferred to negotiate, but if given no choice at all she was not going to let herself die if she could help it. If forced to kill she preferred to make it quick instead of drawing out their suffering. The man who taught her to use a sword, he liked long drawn out battle where he could deal the maximum amount of damage across the body before killing someone. He toyed with foes, so when the day came and they were on opposites of a fight she made sure he suffered as much as possible but she didn't kill him. She publically humiliated him and left him a broken man bleeding on the street. When he was better he trained for months to kill Tav but with his sword hand missing he could never achieve the level of skill he once had he ended up a beggar.
