Raider Life

As she walked Alessandra thought back to her raider days.

Steven didn't join the raiders because he wanted to. He was effectively sold to them. Tyron a raider leader read an old news story about how kids were trained as child soldiers. He didn't read any further because that gave the sick twisted bastard ideas. Steven was only five years old when Tyron came looking for children to be his child soldiers. Tyron gave people a choice to give up their children in exchange for whatever Tyron could think of at that moment or he would kill them and take their child anyway. Steven's father gave him up for a few bottles of Nuka Cola. Steven's mother fought back and was killed.

Steven was brutally trained alongside a bunch of other kids. Tyron was a sick & sadistic man. He used many forms of abuse as motivation. Steven, even after several years of this brutal treatment still tried to be a decent person. Tyron wanted to make sure that was gone for good. Tyron forced an insane cocktail of drugs on Steven and unleashed him on the worst-performing kids and some prisoners. When the drugs finally wore off Steven was confronted with the carnage he caused. He was forever changed that day, he became Steven the Butcher. Around his twentieth birthday, Vihaan Tyron's second-in-command screwed up big time. Vihaan was given the choice. Vihaan thought his loyalty and position would spare him so he chose poorly. Vihaan was wrong. Vihaan choked to death on a giant plastic phallus. Everyone was required to watch. Steven was eventually named as Vihaan's replacement.

Steven even at his cruelest was never cruel to women. He treated them with respect and did his best to help them out of respect for his mother. He often helped them to hide during raids if he could so they wouldn't be captured and used by the other men. During one of his last raids, Tyron caught him helping a woman. Tyron was the one person Steven was afraid of. When Tyron caught him, Tyron gave him a choice, the choice wasn't verbalized, Steven knew what choosing poorly meant he had seen it before only once, and that one time was all he needed to convince him to betray himself. He raped that poor woman and then killed her out of mercy, if he hadn’t, she would have been used by every raider. Six months later Steven was made to pay for it.
