“Welcoming ceremony”

Piya was moving the cargo around as needed. “We need some kind of robot for this crummy job. I am engineer not a damn deckhand.” Then one of the crates slipped and her hand was pinned between two crates. “You gorram, frellin’ frakin’ dank ferrik.” She pulled her hand loose and then proceeded to launch the offending crate across the cargo hold with Big Betsy.

The crate landed just inches from Vroo’s face as she stepped on to the ship for the first time. “Whoa! Easy there. I come in peace.” Piya looked to see the new girl. “Cap hire ya?” Before Vroo could answer Piya kept talking. “Good you deal with these stupid crates. I got better things to do than your gorram job.” Piya left abruptly.

Vroo could already tell this engineer was going to take a lot of getting used. Possible total avoidance. Let’s see what I can remember from the previous host about dealing with cargo. She thought for a moment before giving up. I wasn’t in that body long enough to pick up any of their skills. She began working on the crates as best as she could.

Lisara came back to Big Momma about five minutes after Vroo started working on the crates. “Doc. Where is Piya? She is supposed to be working on these.” Vroo looked over at Lisara. “If you mean the short angry one, she left under the impression you hired me to do this type of work.” Lisara used both hands to rub her forehead above her eyes. She let out a series of control breaths. “That is Piya alright. She’s probably in engineering. While I hired you for your doctoral skills everyone does everything except engineering unless you want to die by being beaten to death by Big Betsy. The big hammer Piya carries.” Lisara then saw the smashed crate. “Gorram dwarf. That’s it. Any damages comes out of her pay from now on. I am sick of this. If your finished here check out the medbay. It’ll need a good cleaning before you can use it. Been quite a long time since we had a doctor. If anyone comes looking for a job like you, just keep them here I’ll talk to them after I deal with Piya.” Lisara left to hunt down the angry dwarf.

Lisara reached engineering. She screamed out Piya’s name the moment she opened the door to engineering for two reasons the loud engine and anger. Lisara’ angry screaming of Piya’s name could be heard in the cargo bay.
