Character Information

Piya comes from a clan of miners. She’s been mining since she was old enough to pick up a tool. In her sparetime as a child she began taking apart anything and everything putting then putting it back together. Sometimes she didn’t put stuff back together and used it to make other stuff. Her raw natural talent as an engineer became very useful when there was a cave in but the equipment was powerful enough. She made it better, stronger, and faster. What would have taken days her new and improved machine did in a day. Word spread of what she did, she was recruited by the best engineering school in the universe and was given a full scholarship. While doing an internship during the summer the vast majority of her clan was killed in a cave in either from the cave in itself or from being trapped and slowly starving to death. The ones on the surface were quickly claimed by another clan and made slaves, including Piya’s sister and sickly mother.

Piya knew there was only one thing she could do for her clan. She finished school and offered skills as an engineer in exchange for her clan’s freedom. They came back with a counteroffer work for them for twelve years and the slaves would remain slaves for the first six years. Piya knew her mother didn’t have that long, but she could still save her sister. Piya reluctantly agreed, if her sickly mother was set free immediately and given to her. Piya’s terms were acceptable. Piya worked like a dog for the bastards who enslaved her clan for six years. As soon as her people were free and safely placed elsewhere, the only safe place was a place that Piya didn’t know about, because if her plans failed and they discovered her clan’s location they could get revenge by hurting her clan.

Piya began plotting her revenge. Over the next six years, she took the number one mining clan in the universe and systematically sabotaged them to the point where no one wanted their inferior substandard crap and their biggest rival bought the rights to all of the mines the clan worked. The clan had no choice but to break up and go their separate ways.

Piya would eventually find the former leader of the clan in a bar looking for answers in the bottom of a keg. She worked hard to get him clean and sober. When he was sober, she told him everything in excruciatingly great detail, it broke him far more than losing his clan. She watched as he hanged himself.

After she had gotten her revenge, she was hired by a merchant marine to be the ship’s engineer. The pay was shit, the food was even shittier, but there was something about the merchant marine’s daughter that spoke to her. She sensed this girl was meant for greatness and she wanted to see it for herself. Plus if she was ever going to find her clan again she needed to be on the move.
