Dybdahl's Villmarks Overlevelsesbutikk. (Dybdahl Wilderness Survival Store)

JP with Redsword, Jaxx and Cindy

The camping store wasn't that far from the restaurant, and the group easily walked there. Upon arriving though it became obvious that the store with the wooden sign which read Dybdahl's Villmarks Overlevelsesbutikk. (Dybdahl Wilderness Survival Store) ,which hung above the door, might be the largest store in Oslo or close to it. It was a large building, two stories worth of merchandise, which looked out of place among the other smaller stores. Though the wooden and stone building was obviously trying its best to look rustic.

Elizabeth stepped inside the store, and glanced around. "I was not expecting it to be so large." It would have been large even by Paris or London standards. "I think we should look around and decide what to buy before getting a salesperson. Shall we start on the second floor?"

Stores were common, all over Europe, however many still were more of the - a salesperson would take orders and get things from the back type. Wandering through aisles and choosing your own items were not very common. Stores which sold dry goods, some bookstores and the random other variety stores might be the exception. However, those were primarily in middle-class areas. The rich did enjoy being waited on, so the idea hadn't caught on with the upscale merchants, very much.

Elizabeth was quickly realizing there seemed to be very little separation between upscale merchants and the ones that catered to the middle-class in Oslo. This was the only camping supply store in the city. There were only a few dry goods stores. A few butchers and so on. Obviously, this was going to be a new experience for the Eldren.

Dr. Jackal and Lily looked around to see if they found anything they might need. The store seemed to have a lot of stuff that looked nice but not exactly what they were looking for.

The top floor seemed to have more luxury items, things that were nice though not necessary. Elizabeth found some items that would make cooking easier, a grated thing that was hinged with a top. It was securely closed and had a handle making cooking fish, vegetables, items that wouldn't work as well on a spit easier to cook. She had no idea what it was called, and looked but the name was in Norwegian. So, she took down the item number instead. The store had black out material that was large enough to go over tents. Those went on the list. Hot water bottles. Dried milk. While Elizabeth was hoping to be able to buy some fresh milk, eggs, and produce from the local village they passed, there was no guarantee that would be possible. Also, there wasn't a village very close to the missing one. So, anything dried that made sense to buy was added to the list. The store did not have dried fish or meat those would have to be bought through one of the local butchers and fishmongers. They did have dried mushrooms, so, those were bought because foraging for mushrooms unless one really knows what their doing is never advisable. She turned to the group. "Did anyone find anything else on this level that we might want?"

Dr. Jackal then looked around as he suggested, "If we can't find dried meats, perhaps we can get smoked meats since they will last and are a bit fresher than dried eat." Lily looked at the good doctor and he smiled at her as he replied, "I did a lot of traveling in my youth so I learned a thing or two on the road." Lily nodded as she forgot about the age difference between them.

"We can but will have to get that from a butcher. I am pretty certain that a salesperson should be able to give us the name of a good butcher and a good fishmonger." Elizabeth explained. "Was there anything else?"

Lily's eyes opened up as she then asked, "Perhaps some dried fruit since many of them might be out of season? It will be a luxury for our camping needs." Lily was thinking of the dried fruit her father would bring back from his clients. Since he was not a fan of sweets she and the maids tended to eat them.

"That's a good idea," Elizabeth looked around because they were in the dried food section and saw packaging for dried fruit. There seemed to be a good variety, mostly of various types of berries. "Berries dry fairly well. It looks like they also have apples, lemons and oranges. I say we get all of them.

Lily smiled as she replied, "Splendid Lady Elizabeth. This way the others might find one they prefer. We could also use them to flavor our tea."

"I wonder if they have chocolate that might travel well." Elizabeth seemed unable to find any, at least in this section.

Sung followed the others into the store, stopping to look at things as he went. He inspected a few items on the shelves, and he looked fascinated by anything new. Sung kept an eye on Elizabeth and the others but did not say anything but did wonder why this store was so well stocked.

Pausing to listen to them talk, Sung thought for a moment. He walked by Elizabeth. "Lady Elizabeth, Think about beans and rice and canned goods. It is a good staple out there, " Sung suggested.

"Yes, Mr. Sung, those are good things to have. If they are not on the first floor we might have get those at a dry goods store." Elizabeth commented.

"Yes, you are correct, Lady Elizabeth," Sung politely replied. "I am just reminding everyone to keep all options open. Ingredients that can be combined with anything and can make many things are best for our... trip," said Sung with a gentle smile. He did not want to give away too much information inside the store. Then he wondered if anyone was watching them around the town.

He knew it was probably no secret that they were there, and it was hard to hide that. But at the same time, he did not want to tell the world that we were right here. Sung felt like he had been too lax lately. Looking around, he realized it was too late to worry about that.

Elizabeth nodded. "That is a good idea. Oh..." Something had caught the Eldren's eye. She started walking a few aisles over to the area that held the more elaborate bedding. "We have bedrolls for everyone, but cots would be nicer." Wondering if there was such a thing as Orc sized cots. "And here," pointing to what looked like a fluffy blanket. "Down duvets would be warm and can be used either on top or underneath the person using them." On top would help regulate body temperature, underneath would add a softness to the cot or bedroll. "We do have blankets with us, but none like that."

Lily followed and checked out the quality of the bedrolls and fluffy blankets. She rubbed them against her cheek to test their softness. Dr. Jackal asked, "Do they tickle your fancy Ms. Lavigne?" Lily nodded and replied, "Yes they do, Doctor. I can imagine them keeping us warm and dry in cold weather." Then Lily had a thought and looked at Lady Elizabeth as she said, "Lady Elizabeth perhaps we can get baking chocolate at a dry goods store?"

Elizabeth nodded at Lily's suggestion. "That would work for chocolate. We will have to get sugar anyway, so Baker's chocolate will be a good addition." The Eldren looked around once more. "I believe I have a good list of everything from this floor. Shall we look around the first floor?"

Dr. Jackal and Lily agreed to follow Lady Elizabeth to the first floor to see what else they had.

Once they reached the first floor, Elizabeth glanced around. This floor seemed to have the items that weren't necessarily luxury but good to have. "I say we find anything else we might need for cook, cookware or anything that might help with the fire. We, also, need to find out if they sell firewood here. Let me know if you spot anything else to buy." This floor did not seem to have any food items that they would want so it would more likely be equipment.

Dr. Jackal and Lily looked around to see if they could find any needed items. So they moved slowly as they looked at the various items on the shelves.

"Dr. Jackal, can you see if they have first aid supplies?" Elizabeth asked. "We should make a kit, maybe two, for those that might be a way from camp or any of those able to heal others. Also, extra supplies of that sort are a good idea."

Dr. Jackal gave Lady Elizabeth a slight bow before he replied, "Of course Lady Elizabeth. I'll get one for each cart." Lily then asked, "Should I help the good doctor Lady Elizabeth?"

"Yes," Elizabeth answered Lily with a small smile. She thought the Doctor wanted Lily's help as well.

After excusing themselves, Dr. Jackal and Lily made their way to the medical area to find the items for three first aid kits. However the good doctor struggled to find a proper container to protect the medical items from the harsh weather. Most of the boxes available were not water proof or even water resistant. This posed a problem since wanted to keep the medical supplies free from contaminants. Then as the good doctor was rubbing his neck from stress he saw a large blunderbuss hanging on the wall as a decoration. Then he remembers that gunpowder also had to be protected from the elements like medical items and in a flash he had a brilliant thought. So then he and Lily made their way to the hunting section to find the ammunition section. Lily was confused by the action of the good doctor till he arrived at his destination and found ammunition boxes. Dr. Jackal explained that the ammo boxes were designed to protect ammo from the elements and once cleaned they would be perfect to protect the medical supplies. So after selecting three large ammo boxes they made their way to the medical section to select the medical supplies to put into the ammo boxes to make the first aid kits. Once they picked everything out they had a sales rep aid them add it to their purchases.

Elizabeth managed to find firemaking supplies, tarps, and more bedding. She kept looking as the Eldren wanted something waterproof for some of the food that would be loose, once opened, like the rice. She found some wooden barrels, and some metal boxes. Both would work, and the extra tarps could help with keeping the food dry.

She had a list, then waited for the Doctor and Lily, as Sung stayed by Elizabeth. It was just to give the list to a salesperson. Most of the items would be delivered the next day.

As soon as Doctor Jackal and Lily came back, Elizabeth gave the list to salesperson. Explained what she wanted and then got information on other stores in the area. Paid, and off they went. A quick stop and a butcher and a fishmonger. Then Elizabeth said. "I believe we can go to the food store next."
