Dinner on deck

A small crackle came over the ship's tannoy system; it was rather tinny but clearly Pierre's voice on the other side, "If you could be so kind, I require the assistance of my prior sous chef." the very French accent asked. Not saying Sung or Vor's names but knew they'd know he meant them.

Sung shook his head and focused on his inner self. He walked to the Kitchen, walking through the door. He gave a bow. "How can I help?" asked Sung. He was happy to think about something other than flying, not that he was afraid; he just be he did not like the feeling of it made him uneasy. It could have been from the time in his past with his old master. Sung always thought if humans were to fly they would have wings.

"Monsieur, before be we begin is there any foods you can not or will not eat?" he asked, as he reached into a bin to get Sung an apron.

"None that I know of," replied Sung, taking the apron. Sung was dressed causally for him and Lady Elizabeth. But dressed up for the common folk. That is all Sung had for clothing. If he needed to dress for some type of manual labor, he would have to borrow clothing.

Vor came into the kitchen with a keen eye and an able energy. He couldn't wait to use his hands for more than moving boxes or writing notes. Seeing Sung already preparing to work, he greeted them with a sheepish smile."Seems I am found lacking in timeliness. Apologies, Monsieur."

Pierre tossed Vor an apron. "Monsieur, I will ask you the same. Do you have any dietary restrictions?" he asked as he put on his chef's whites. I would not want to take away a course or harm religious belief. But we have a member of the crew who cannot have beef," he said, giving an example.

"I have yet to find any major restrictions from food, thank you." Vor was already acclimating himself with the kitchen space, where certain utensils and tools were, and how best to maneuver with two other bodies in the room."What is it we shall be preparing?"

"A light stock vegetable soup made with shellfish stock." Pierre said, "And fresh bread." He added, "I will need one of you to prepare the vegetables, and one of you to prepare the shellfish," he said.

Vor readily volunteered to handle the shellfish. While not his favorite, he knew many meals that were greatly improved by such stock and had learned how to handle the defenses of many species. This skill led to an enthusiastic shucking, Vor enjoying memories of doing the same back home surrounded by family.

Sung looked over to the vegetables "How would you like them? How do they say it? Sliced, diced, and chopped I can do it all with a smile," said Sung with a wink. "Even the bread to the vegetables should not take to long even for everyone on this air ship." suggested Sung. Sung walked over looking at all of the ingredients. "Hmm.. well the quality will do for Lady Elizabeth. We also need a salad." Sung comments with a nod.

"Monsieur, feel free." Pierre hooked a finger, "Vinegar and oil is in that cabinet." he said, "Any other veggies are in the icebox." he added, "For the cut, dice them small enough they maintain texture, but are small enough you can get a little of each in each spoonful." Pierre said as he worked on other things. "If you are needing anything ask and I will point out the location."

Sung gave a nod to Pierre and started on his task of chopping the vegetables his skill and experience showed as he cut and diced the vegetables. this would not take too long. There was a lot to do. There were not just a few people on the ship. The team and crew would make for an interesting time.

Vor and Sung had done their jobs perfectly, and Pierre finished the soup sooner than he would have working alone. Once the soup had gotten to the consistency he wanted, he called them over to take a taste and ask if it needed anything. In agreement, it was perfect, and with the salad finished, "Monsieur Sung," Pierre said. Would you mind going to the box in the hall and sending out a message to gather the teams to the dining hall?"

Sung wiped his hands and removed his cooking attire. Walking down the corridor to a brass tube from the floor, he opened the lid and spoke loudly into it. "All hands, Dinner is ready," he announced several times.
