Jobs on The Ship
JP with mdman, Jaxx, Lasersexpanther and Cindy
Dr. Jackal then asked for a guide to the crate in question. Then the good doctor and Lily followed the guide to the mystery crate to explore the contents.
Cronk made himself useful below decks, following what Nugbu explained he needed to do. It was good to talk to another orc. He looked forward to being in Oslofjord once again. Mostly, he looked forward to seeing his mother and father.
On short breaks, Cronk would often go above deck to look out the fore end of the ship to see if he recognized any land features. He didn’t, and most likely wouldn’t, because he hadn’t seen his home from the air before. He could still look and hope. When nothing looked familiar after a few minutes, Cronk would return below deck. The ward was working for him, which made Cronk happy.
Elizabeth waited on Maseo to be ready to take her to the main deck, she did know about navigation thanks to her father but had a feeling she could learn more from Maseo
After everything was settled and everyone had their jobs Masao took Lady Elizabeth to the control deck. It sat directly at the Forward of the ship, a large U shape of glass enclosed space. What served as the wheel sat close to the middle of the room, off to the starboard side sat the first of two small arrays of instrumentation. Ritsu sitting at the chair situated in the small alcove of the panel. A similar set of panels sat on the port side, Jiro who Lady Elizabeth was told was the navigator sat at its chair. "Welcome to the Helm, Lady Elizabeth."
Aside from the panels, the room was as fancy as the rest of the ship. Rich wooden panels polished to a mirror-like shine made up the walls and floor. The walls a darker color to add contrast, and strips of equally polished copper to break up areas to make them not look too large.
"Thank you, Mr. Jiro. Good day, Mr. Ritsu," Elizabeth responded as she gazed around the deck. It was quite nice, actually, there was a certain luxury to it. "Just tell me where you want me." She had no problem helping out, and figured it would be interesting to watch the others in that room at work.
Masao stepped up. "Give Jiro or headings." He said, "latitude and longitude if you have it.”
"Of course," Elizabeth pulled out a small notebook. "59.911493 is the latitude, and the longitude is 10.757934. That will get us to the private docks for the palace.”
Jiro let out a laugh before cracking his knuckles "Perfect." He said and started moving dials. Above the window the wheel faces a semi of flip numbers moving indicating the numbers roughly lining up with Elizabeth's numbers. A second set showed their current location. Allowing it to be matched up as they flew.
Elizabeth smiled slightly, and watched Jiro at work. She sometimes wondered, if she hadn't chosen to work for The Order, what job she would have ended up with, being a navigator always seemed like it would be interesting work.
In the hold, Cronk was helping Nugbu in moving Cargo back into place after it shifted. They had to ensure the equal distribution of weight within the hold.
As Cronk turned away from a crate, the ward he wore caught the edge of the crate and ripped off. Almost instantly, Cronk’s stomach began to lurch and turn. Placing a hand over his mouth, Cronk made a mad dash up the stairs to above deck. He hurried to the side of the ship, where he emptied the contents of his stomach.
He glanced down at the small tear where the ward had been. Shaking his head, Cronk thought it would be a long journey if the ward would not be found.
