When Drawing Blood, Use Red Ink

As Jackal rubbed down the arm, Cronk closed his eyes and turned his head away. “Ow, ow, ow!” he shouted, before the needle was ever in Jackal’s hand.

When the Good Doctor offered the whiskey, Cronk looked at the label. This must be good stuff. He’d save this for tonight when Camille would visit.

He suddenly felt a quick prick and was about to scream. But the pain just as quickly went away.

“This not bad,” muttered Cronk.

Dr. Jackal grinned and replied, "The trick is to distract the mind. You have suffered far greater injuries than a mere poke in the arm Mr. Cronk. However you are able to endure it if you have the motivation. Your need to protect others as well as your booze, will aid you in keeping your focus. Did you notice that you managed to keep your focus this whole time? The proof is that you didn't crush the glass bottle." Dr. Jackal used the conversation to keep Cronk distracted as the blood filled the bottle that was hidden behind Cronk.

Cronk looked to the bottle, then back to the doctor. “Cronk remember Good Doctor not evil.”

He didn’t look down at the blood flowing through the tube. It wasn’t that blood made him oozy. After all, Cronk had bled a lot, especially since joining the team. It was the concept of watching his blood go from one place to another inside a small tube that Cronk couldn’t handle.

Dr. Jackal smirked at Cronk for his kind words. He monitored the blood flow to make sure nothing bad happened as he distracted Cronk's mind. The good doctor replied, "You are too kind Mr. Cronk. Oh by the way Powers is a brand of Irish whiskey produced by the Irish Distillers subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. Historically a single pot still whiskey, the flagship Powers Gold Label brand was the first Irish whiskey ever to be bottled. Powers Gold Label was the best-selling whiskey in Ireland. It was introduced in 1791 and the alcohol by volume is 40%-46%, so that makes it a pretty strong. I know you love the good stuff but remember to savor it as well. As we both know all to well nothing lasts forever and when its gone we do miss it." Dr. Jackal saw the blood was now at full capacity and closed the valve to stop the blood drain. He then got a small clean rectangular folded bandage and dowsed it in rubbing alcohol before putting on some ointment for cuts. The ointment was both an antiseptic and anesthetic to keep the arm from getting infected.
