Cronk looked at the material in his hands. He couldn’t see any material lasting long if he was instructed to pull it apart. The look of pride came across the features of his face.
At first, Cronk tested it gently stretching the material. It displayed elasticity in his firm grip. Next, Cronk yanked as hard as he could. The material simply stretched further and did not rip apart. So, Cronk did as he was told to do in the first place. He separated his hands as far as they would separate with the material. The strength of the material held up.
A look of dismay came across the orc’s face. The excitement he experienced by causing an explosion changed to be disgruntled at not being able to rip apart a simple piece of material. He focused disappointed eyes at Adele.
“How this be?” he grumbled.
"Please pass it around, yes. " Adele said before explaining. "It is made from a mysterious plant...only grows on one island in the pacific. No one lives there. A team brought back plant. No one knew what to do with it." She tapped a finger to her forehead. "I think. Yes, try turning it to a fiber. Then materials.... yet it still proves difficult to work with. Too heavy. Not bullet proof. But so much stretch, yes...yes. Stretch."
Cronk handed it to Little Flower. She included him in the explosive, so he returned the favor with the material.
He was still disgruntled. The Short One didn’t give him an answer. Just explained it was a plant. Cronk hadn’t seen much of anything to endure his strength. Even metal would dent.
Dr. Jackal was very interested in the material as he examined it. He tested the strength of it as he stretched it out. He looked at Adele and asked, can you make a suit out of this or at least a pair of shorts? I would be interested in putting an order in if it can be approved.”
"It can be sewn into clothing but it is quite heavy. Far too uncomfortably heavy. " Adele said to Dr. Jackal. The piece of fabric that was being passed around had a heavy weight to it. "Not ready... yet. When ready I will make you something from it...yes."
Adele walked up to Dr. Jackal and looked him up and down, "A suit... you say? Interesting. Indeed. I can get it approved...yes. Interesting indeed. You will be my first suit."
Adele never said why it was so interesting to her that Dr. Jackal wanted clothing made from the material. She just went back to the front of the group.
"Come, come. I show you more. All come." Adele said.
She led the group down a different hallway and to an area which show beautiful evening gowns, in all sizes. And then the room next store with tuxes for the men, top hats, tails and all.
"I designed these." She motioned to one. "Make one of a kind. All have extra protection in them. Help if swords or guns come out at a formal occasion."
One dress, an elegant silk floor length gown, in emerald green which wasn't in anyway completed hung on a seamstresses dummy, who was lacking a head, as they all seem to. "This, this....beautiful yes This is being made for Lady Elizabeth for the Magic Guild's gala." Adele put her index finger to her mouth. "Between us, yes? It's a secret I showed you."
That pretty much ended the tour of the fabrics division. Adele said goodbye to the team as she escorted them back through the front doors of the building.
Elise pointed to the building next to the one the team had just exited. This building seemed to be under construction, a great deal of steel was being used.
"That is our magic division." Elise explained. "Obviously we cannot go in there. There have been several, shall we say, mishaps with some of the magic users trying new spells. So, now the entire building is being outfitted with more steel."
There was a little more of a walk, past another Cafe, and an area with trees and benches until the team came to the largest building in the complex. It wasn't taller than the main building, two stories but it was the shape of five pointed star, sort of. There seemed to parts of the building jetting out all over the place. "This is our
Engineering and Technology Department." Elise explained
Dr. Jackal simply listened to Elise speak as he made a mental note of the tour. Seeing as they were rebuilding the magical study building he smirked as Elise hinted that they were a dangerous group even to themselves. Then as they saw the engineering department he looked at Loren who would be excited to see that. When it came to technology she was like a kid in a candy store.
Vor kept silent, takin in the immensity of this organization and definitely feeling out of place. If they stayed here for much longer he would see himself to the library for sure, figuring it was the one place he could be of any worth. The technology was astounding, though he had always believed that a reliance on machines would be the eventual downfall of them all. Of course he kept those thoughts to himself, writing them and other notes as they went.
Lorem continued to enjoy the tour. Her photographic memory was mapping the entire place’s blueprint and details. Everything she had been shown and applied her attention to, visually and audibly, she would be able to replicate in her journal. Whether this was problematic because of its classified nature was unclear. It was simply in her nature to process the world around her in this way.
It was obvious the engineering building was the destination of sweet anticipation for the lovely young gnome prodigy. She would have gone straight there, upon arrival, if given permission. In hindsight though, she was glad she was forced upon the tour as it allowed her some valuable experiences and inspirations.
She eagerly awaited the tour guide to take them inside the star like building. Though she couldn’t help herself from asking, “Is it possible I depart the tour at this point ma’m? I would very much like to find Lady Gemma if at all possible.” She looked to Mr. Dumont as she spoke, thinking he might have more sway than herself to tilt that outcome into existence.
Elise looked at Lorem, and walked to the receptionist who seemed to then speak into a phone like device. The receptionist said something to Elise who nodded.
"Gemma is currently in a meeting but she'll be informed of your arrival and you should be able to meet her in a little while." Elise said.
Elizabeth heard every word, Elise said as she and Mr. Sung walked into the building.
"I do believe that Miss Gemma will be there for your presentation to the Baron." Elizabeth directed her words to Lorem with a pleasant and polite tone. "Perhaps you would like to come with Mr. Sung and myself to get set up? Mr. Dumont, you know Miss Gemma rather well, maybe you can come with us?"
Lorem nodded to Elizabeth. “I would like that very much Lady Elizabeth, thank you.” Having a moment to get situated and collect her thoughts would be welcomed. In addition, to making sure everything was unpacked correctly.
Elise bowed slightly to Elizabeth and said, "Very well, then. The rest of you can follow me." She led the rest of the team down a hallway to the right.
