The Gypsy Life

Somewhere at night in the slums of Harlem during cold season, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan was a call girl running for her life from two creepy guys.

Agent Orange was watching from a roof of a three story abandoned building as he saw the call girl screaming for help as two thugs chased after her. Abigale Krill aka Polka Dot Girl was dressed in a white jumpsuit with colorful polka dots on it and goggles on her head, however she was also wearing a long brown trench coat to not stand out. Next to her was Carrie Kelly aka Robin in her custom Robin outfit but covered up in a brown trench coat.

Abigale was sitting next to Agent Orange as she asked, "What are they doing?" Carrie was using her mini binoculars to see what was going on. Agent Orange replied, "The skinny one’s Keego. The big one’s Fridge. They beat people up, take their money, kill them sometimes. The cab driver gets a third for dropping them off at that spot. One woman, they beat her head so hard against the sidewalk, they cracked the concrete. Another got away by running three blocks on a broken foot. Sometimes that’s the only way people get saved, suicidal bravery. Sometimes it’s luck that saves them. Sometimes it’s fate." Abigale replied, "Yeah, usually it’s fate…" Carrie spoke up, "People are so cruel." Agent Orange then replied, "But, sometimes, it’s me. The woman I saved yesterday was raped and mutilated, it said so on the news. I was a day late and a dollar short again." Abigale replied, "Spoken like a true fanatic! A few women who can’t take care of themselves get messed with and you ride to the rescue! Who are you to assume responsibility for their lives?" Carrie replied, "He can't help it. At least he cares."

Agent Orange stoically looked at the men chasing the call girl and then said, "Stay here. I won't be long." Abigale then asked, "Then can we eat dinner? I'm starving?" Carrie sighed as she wanted to go to but she knew she would get in his way since she was still adjusting to her altered body. After she was kidnapped she was being altered in a stasis tank made by Ra's al Ghul so she could be a future body for him. Luckily she was rescued before that happened. Sadly she was not out of the woods yet as she was still adjusting to her changes in her body. She discovered she gained immunity to toxins, and enhanced strength, agility, and durability from Ra's al Ghul, but needed to have the toxins removed by Agent Orange to stabilize her or the pain would overwhelm her. This meant she was stuck with Agent Orange since he was her ally.

Meanwhile Agent Orange opened his black trench coat like a pair of wings and jumped off the roof top. He then glided through the air as he was on a collision course for the two thugs. As he hovered above the two thugs he closed his trench coat and dropped kicked both thugs in the back of the head. Their heads made a cracking sound as they hit the sidewalk. The call girl never looked back as she ran for her life into the darkness. Agent Orange then searched the two thugs and found a few hundred bucks and some jewelry on them, which he took and hid in his black trench coat. He seemed all to familiar with violence and looting a corpse.

Then by chance he saw some headlights approaching as he melted to blend in with the curb. It was a cab and the driver stopped and got out to look around and saw the two bodies bleeding on the sidewalk. He then cursed under his breath as he looked around and tried to get back in his cab only find himself loosing his vision as he was falling to the ground quickly. The last thing he saw was the impact of the street by his cab before everything went black. Agent Orange then looted the cabby who had a lot of cash on him as well as some jewelry, which he looted. Once he was done vanished in the darkness and made his way back to Abigale who chewing her gum as she was hungry and bored. Carrie was smiling at the succuss of Agent Orange she then replied, "I'm getting hungry myself.

When Agent Orange arrived Abigale got a bit spooked and she said, "Eeekk! Would it kill you to wear a bell so I could hear you coming?" Agent Orange replied, "I scored some cash. You still hungry?" Abigale smiled as she replied, "You know I am. Unlike you I need to eat, but what's open around here?" Agent Orange replied, "Nothing. We'll need to hitch a ride to the next city." Abigale sighed as she replied, "I can't argue with that. I don't want to fight on an empty stomach."

Then the three of them made their way to a freeway and hid behind a barricade. Once they saw a passing semi truck, Agent Orange flung out an arm to grab the trailer of the truck as he grabbed onto Abigale and Carrie, before he was pulled by the truck in the air. He once again opened his trench coat to help him glide to the top of the truck trailer as they landed. Since the wind was harsh at that speed Agent Orange wrapped around Abigale and Carrie like a cocoon to protect them as the speeding semi raced through Harlem. Truckers never stopped in Harlem since they were known to get robbed if they even slowed down.

Luckily it was only a thirty minute drive till the next stop which was the Queens Night Market, where a family-friendly open-air night market with over 100 independent vendors selling food, art, and merchandise. It's located in Flushing Meadow Corona Park, behind the New York Hall of Science, which makes it a bit safer at night. Once there Agent Orange altered his form to look like a dad in a black trench coat escorting his two daughters for a late snack at the food trucks. There they purchased some grilled chicken sliders to fill up Abigale's empty stomach and some street tacos for Carrie. Since renting a room in New York was far to expensive they snuck into the bell tower of an old church so Abigale and Carrie could get some sleep. Agent Orange didn't need to sleep or eat like a person but he did like to take a rest and absorb some plants for extra energy. Once they were out of sight and hidden, Agent Orange altered his body to become a beanbag/sleeping bag like slime mattress for Abigale and Carrie to sleep on. It didn't take long for them to pass out. Agent Orange then began to slowly leech out the built up toxins in Carrie so she could get a proper sleep.

As Abigale slept Agent Orange kept watch as he recalled his past. He remembered long ago being in the World War two as well as several other wars like Vietnam and Korea. He remembered finding Abigale in South America while hunting some terrorist. She was stolen from Star Labs and in a cryo chamber. When he accidently opened the chamber she woke up very confused at the age of thirteen. Five years later he raised her as his side kick since they were in no position to come out in the public. They had been on the run for a long time and never had a place to call home. Agent Orange was worried about the future since Abigale and Carrie was getting restless from their nomadic lifestyle. He knew it was a matter of time before Carrie needed to come to terms with the death of Batman. However due to the chaos from his death it was not a good time to go public especially in her condition.
