Sweet Goodnight
“You’re really sweet, you know that?” Gelf said softly.
“You’re really kind.” Sorley did not believe it.
“I’m being honest, you know.” Gelf said before there was a small crash. “Oh, damn it! This annoying tail!” It had knocked something over. “I knocked over another vase…”
“Are you okay?” Sorley blushed to think about her tail.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Did I hear screaming?” Gelf asked.
“Screaming?” Sorley asked in concern.
“It sounded like your sister.” Gelf said.
The bird was on Sorley’s head again and flapped her wings.
“I think she went to bed…” Sorley said, looking around himself.
“Oh…Ohhhh?” Gelf said and the blush could be heard in her voice.
“Uh, actually she’s in the bathroom…” Sorley said.
“Ewww, I don’t need to know what she does in a bathroom!” Gelf said and giggled.
Sorley blushed, and blushed more when she heard Skorn’s voice also coming from the bathroom. “Sorry.”
“Is that Skorn’s voice?!” Gelf gasped.
“Yes…” Sorley said awkwardly.
“Oh, wow…” Gelf giggled. “Are you still in the hall?”
Sorley nodded, then realized Gelf could not see him. “Yeah.”
“You can go to bed if you need to. I know it’s late.” Gelf replied.
“It’s okay.” Sorley said, suppressing a yawn.
“But you’re sleepy, silly. I can call you tomorrow.” Gelf said, a smile in her voice.
“I like hearing your voice…” Sorley blushed again.
Gelf couldn’t stop from letting out a little purr. “R-really?” She asked.
“Yeah.” Sorley did not know how to explain how she made him feel safe.
“I’ll be sure to call tomorrow, then.” Gelf replied again. “I don’t want to get off the phone, but I do have to unpack…and sleep.”
“Okay, I’ll let you go.” Sorley said, reluctant to hang up.
It took Gelf a moment before she forced herself to hang up, but there would be a good morning hello from her when he woke up.
