Aunt Ami (Pt 2)

Ami cradled the baby carefully. She knew Tzeitel did not want to see the babies because of where they came from. It made her really sad.

“We just have to be patient.” James reassured her with a sad smile. A part of him was worried that Tzeitel might never accept the children, even as nieces/nephews.

Cody was very gentle as he fed the baby the bottle, always afraid of harming someone.

“I know.” Ami said sadly. “They’re just so cute.”

“Aren't they?” James said with a smile. “Klaire is always so giggly about how adorable they are. She's the same about you and Cody, too.”

Cody tilted his head, confused by this.

Ami understood, though she thought the babies were much cuter than her and Cody. “Klaire always wanted to be a mother.”

“Yeah, I'm happy she can be one with you four.” James said, though he was happy to be a father to them all, too. He hated that he couldn't give Klaire everything she wanted.

“I love Klaire.” Ami said. Her own mother never loved her. It was not fair that Klaire could not have babies while people like Ami’s parents could.

“And she loves you,” James said as finally set the now happy and full baby back into the crib.

Ami smiled and happily bounced on the balls of her feet. She wished Tzeitel would join them, but at least what family was intact cared about her.
