Reunited with The Visage
JP with LucianNepreen and Cindy
Elizabeth sent word with servants to the others involved with the incidents today to just give her a written report tonight or tomorrow morning. She had the idea if what had happened and there was no reason to rehash it repeatedly by having them all tell her.
She did however need one other to come to her office , and for that she left the Visage out on her desk. Knowing he'd want to see it, right away. Elizabeth then had a servant fetch Vor.
Not thinking much of the summons and assuming Lady Elizabeth simply wanted a more thorough report on his research, Vor entered her office with his usual stack of papers. Even when he had entered he had begun speaking of the names he had found, approaching her desk in order to properly show her.
These dropped once his eyes met the statue, a firm look of disbelief that dared suggest a deeper elation. He couldn't speak at first, simply looking to Elizabeth for confirmation of the artifacts existence.
Elizabeth heard the names, Lamaire prevalent among them, but she just waited for Vor to notice her desk and what was upon it.
The look on his face, might have been the best thing of the past few hours beyond the team returning.
"Yes," Elizabeth said, with a nod. "It's the Visage. Maseo retrieved it from Lamaire's lab. As far as I can tell it's the real one. However, I would like you to look it over and confirm it's real, as much as you can."
Not needing to hear it a second time, Vor gingerly, yet eagerly handled the piece. At this point Maseo had earned his undying trust and admiration.
"It is indeed, My Lady. From the feel of the corral to the penmanship of the inscription, this is a genuine article. My endless thanks to you and Maseo for its recovery!"
He desperately wanted another Arunden here to celebrate this event and have the Visage in the right hands once again. He hoped that could still be arranged at a later time, but his thoughts led back to the papers piled on the floor. Placing the Visage back, he gathered his notes and thoughts.
"Will it be remaining here?"
"Thank you, but I do believe this could not have been retrieved without the entire team. And Captain Maseo deserves more credit than I do." Elizabeth really did think that was the case. Without everyone its unlikely things would have gone the way they did, and certainly not this quickly.
"I am afraid, that is up to the Baron at the moment. My father might be able to allow the Visage to stay with us, when he arrives but that is not until the end of the week." Elizabeth explained. "Even if the Baron brings it to headquarters I believe we can get it back. It will be held for evidence for the time being." She paused, "I cannot say how long it will stay in the custody of the Order before being returned to the owner." It had been owned by an Eldren when all of this started, Elizabeth had no say in whether that Eldren decided to give it back to the Arundan.
Very much against the idea of the Baron having any say over HIS people's artifact, Vor knew there was no point in arguing with what litle pwoer he had in the matter. The idea of it going back to the Eldren he had spoken to so long ago also was undesirable, though he made a note to possibly try and work a deal with the gentlemen.
"What is important then is that it will be in the Baron's hands instead of the Children's. Has there been any sort of repercussion for its theft? I would imagine it would anger them terribly."
"Not yet. I will speak about this more at the team meeting but between The Visage and The Eye I suspect something from them. I will need everyone to be vigilant tonight. Just in case." Elizabeth's house no longer contained the Eye but the Children of the Sea would be unaware that of that. "They might also hold off doing anything, try to wait until they think guards are down. They hopefully still do not know about the Order and just believe I am an Eldren who is just too nosy." Elizabeth paused, "You were saying something about Lemaire, his family when you first came in. Did you have something to report on that?" Not to be abrupt but Elizabeth still had things to do before the meeting.
Vor relied his findings briefly, giving major notes rather than a full report. The papers her brought brought the context for such notes, letting the information flow. It also allowed Vor to voice a few of his theories and questions, chiefly the growing confusion of Lamaire's importance throughout the cults history.
Elizabeth listened to everything Vor had to report. She wished she had time to dive into it futher but couldn't. "I think you should present all of that at the meeting later. Maybe some others can add ideas." Elizabeth stated. "However, unfortunately that's all I have time for right now. Thank you, Mr. Aster." Politely dismissing the Arundan.
