Elizabeth had Harold bring her a Danish, some fruit and tea, in her office, it would serve as breakfast as the way the morning had gone, she hadn’t had a chance to eat.
She had finished it, while looking over the reports on her desk. The woman had to admit, she didn't realize just how much of this job would be reading reports.
The twenty minutes went by in no time and soon enough Harold was reminding her of that. "Thank you, Harold. Please fetch Miss Lagrave and Cronk and show them into my office." It seemed like there was a lot to do today and not a lot of time, at least for herself.
Cronk stood from his seat. He held out an arm, not sure if Sasha would take it. The Masked One seemed secretive and independent to Cronk. His gesture was purely because Sasha was hurt.
“If Masked One need,” Cronk insisted, “can lean on me.”
"Thank you Cronk." Sasha said, "I am feeling much better this morning, just some bruising." she added, but took his arm anyway. And allowed Cronk to walk her to Lady Elizabeth's office for their meeting.
When Sasha and Cronk arrived at Elizabeth’s office, Harold knocked on Elizabeth’s door. The sound of "come in" was heard from the other.
Harold opened the door and announced the other two
"Thank you, Harold. That's all." Elizabeth said, right before Harold left closing the door behind them.
Elizabeth motioned to the Cronk sized chair and regular chair that were in front of her desk, "Please, both of you have a seat."
Sasha gave a very small bow and did as she was asked, lower herself into the chair.
Cronk followed Sasha’s lead and bowed. “Lady Boss want Cronk and Masked One?” Cronk asked. “We crush Staniadis?”
"No, we can not crush Staniadis, yet. We do need to discuss being backups for Mr. Sung and Mr. Aster." Elizabeth explained. "The meeting is at 5 pm. If we leave at 4:30 it should be enough time to set up. Basically, we will be there in case of trouble but we are not to be the cause of the trouble. We have to try to avoid breaking Mr. Sung's and Mr. Aster's cover. They can not be found out, as they are our best chance at gaining information." Elizabeth paused for a mere moment. "As they have mages, I am coming with both of you. So, it would help if we come up with a plan and make sure we have everything we need." Elizabeth then turned to Sasha, with a look of concern. "Miss Lagrave are you up for this? More healing can be done, if it is required."
Sasha shook her head. "No I will manage. I wouldn't want to slow you down by draining your magic." She explained "I have something for the pain."
"Very well, then." Elizabeth opened a draw and cleared her desk a bit, then she pulled out a tube, which she opened and out fell what looked almost like a rolled up scroll, and a few small perfectly flat and round stones. The Eldren then unrolled the scroll, places the rocks on the corners, holding what was a street map of Paris.
She pointed to an area in the warehouse district, not too far from the docks. Several blocks from where they currently were. An area know, for its plethora of illegal activity. There was a drawn on rectangular shape and then a much smaller square to the back of it.
Elizabeth pointed to the large rectangle, "This is where the main building is. According to Mr. Sung's report, Standis's office is in the back, here." Pointing that out. "Here," pointing to the small square shape. "Is the entrance to the stairs down, they lead to a hall which leads to the temple. The temple is where the meeting will be held. The place is extremely well guarded. We should remain close but not too close to look suspicious." Elizabeth then added. "Before we go any further, I will likely be invisible for most of this but will also change my appearance, just in case as I am becoming too recognized with that group."
Cronk couldn’t imagine anything invisible. He just couldn’t imagine anything he couldn’t see, which made anything being invisible difficult to understand. He couldn’t see anything invisible. His mind attempted to comprehend such a thing as he scratched his chin.
“Know Cronk too,” Cronk stated, referring to his previous altercation with Staniadis. “Cronk hard to hide,” he sheepishly admitted.
Sasha let out a small sigh. "Sadly people like Staniadis are prone to think all other races look the same." She said "If we dress you up like a person in the area with a cap you can hide your face by looking down while wearing he likely won't take any notice of you." She said
"Unfortunately, what Miss Lagrave said, is accurate when it comes to people like Staniadis. I believe you should be fine Cronk, just try not too much draw attention to yourself. " Elizabeth took a breath. "I, on the other hand, likely would be easily recognized. Not only by Staniadis, but Lily's former butler has met me before. Dr. Lamaire has seen me. And not many Eldren are in that area."
Elizabeth then moved on, "I suppose the first thing is should we stay together or split up?" She pointed to an area near the building. "We can likely remain in the area without drawing too much attention. There are a number of buildings and alleyways to duck into as well, if necessary."
"Are there any buildings up high I could take overwatch on?" Sasha asked. "I could keep my eye on everything."
“Cronk look like worker,” Cronk thought aloud. He thought he could look like a warehouse worker. He had the flat cap the Lady Elizabeth recently purchased for him. A pair of overhauls would do. He could cut off the sleeves of a shirt to sell the outfit.
He wasn’t sure how he would take going back to the area without currently having the resources to help the people. He just knew that he would be back to do so. He felt a common ground with those people. Getting rid of scum like Stan Man and La Mare would help.
Elizabeth nodded to Sasha's question, "Yes, most of the buildings in that area are fairly high. You can probably just choose the best one, when we get there." Elizabeth replied, "So, then we will split up. We should have a signal incase of trouble. Can both of you whistle?"
Cronk could never whistle. Even if he had a police whistle, he wasn’t sure how it worked. He scratched his chin.
Just to be sure, Cronk puckered his lips. Even with his lips puckered, no one would would mistake him for Vor. He blew through his lips, making causing the lips to vibrate, making no whistling sound.
“Cronk growl?” he asked, wondering if that were an acceptable signal.
Sasha nodded "I can whistle." she said "Do you happen to know what kinds of roofs the buildings in that area have? More specifically the color of the roofs." Sasha questioned trying to formulate a plan to run by Elizabeth. "And should I expect discursion is the key or does noise not factor if the plan goes badly?"
"Cronk, growling would work just fine for you." Elizabeth said. She nodded at Sasha response. "It's mostly warehouses in that section, some of the roofs are flat, others are pitched. They tend to be stone, so brown or grey, like the buildings themselves." Elizabeth explained. "Diversion should be used if it can. If it cannot then I doubt noise will be our main concern."
Sasha's eyes darted a bit in thought. "I will take what I am more comfortable with then." Sasha said making a mental note. "With the help of Cronk I will get up somewhere high and keep watch over the two of you the best I can." Sasha began. "Refrain from attack unless its the only option left, and will shoot wide unless it is like for death for either of you." Sasha said giving Lady Elizabeth the basics of what she had in mind for the guard duty.
"That plan will work," Elizabeth said. She pointed to an area fairly close to the temple. "These are the bushes, I hid in before. I will go back to those. I can see the building from there. Cronk," she pointed to another area a little further away. "This area might be good for you. There are usually people around, you would likely just blend in."
Elizabeth pulled out a blank piece of paper and moved an inkwell and pen closer. "What do we need supply and weapon wise, beyond whatever you both personally have. Do we need the hand cannon from Miss Ipsum, in case things go badly?"
Sasha shook her head "It might be best for you to not have something so big. Even if you can hid it in the bushes, if Miss Ipsum has a version that is handheld , something you can just drop and get away. That would be best. We don't want others getting hurt accidently because it, and if you needed to run the bulk might slow you down and we wouldn't want her hand cannon to fall into the wrong hands."
Sasha thought for a moment on the supplies. "A sheet, like from a bed the same or close to the same color as the roof. It will serve as a blind. Not that it will completely obscure me but provided they aren't watching the rooftops to closely I will blend in from a cursery glance."
"I can ask about what she has that is handheld. I do have a pistol and knife I will be bringing with me." Elizabeth replied, she wrote down something as Sasha was discussing the sheets. "That can be easily arranged." Most of the sheets at the house were white but it wasn't a difficult task to get or have made other colors. "Was their anything else?"
Cronk listened to the two ladies speak of weapons. He looked at his hands. “Cronk weapons hands. Control better. If need, bricks and rocks.”
Sasha looked at Cronk. "Not important now but I might have something I can make for you to get your punches a bit more power." she said. "As for supplies that's all for me." Sasha said, "I have everything I need."
"Then I will check on those items. Please be ready by 4:15 this afternoon. I will send for you when we are ready to go." Elizabeth thought for a moment. "I believe that is all I had. Did either of you have anything to add or any questions?"
Sasha shook here head "I have no questions Lady Elizabeth, I will prepare and be ready before 4:15." Sasha said, rising. "I will manage without the sheet if it is a time factor." she added.
Cronk looked at Sasha with a grin. He wasn’t sure what she had that would help him punch better, but it sounded good to Cronk.
“Cronk good,” he insisted. “Cronk be ready.”
Cronk stood. He again offered an arm for Sasha. “If Masked One need help to roof, let Cronk know.”
Elizabeth nodded to both of them, noticing the grin on Cronk's face it wasn’t difficult to figure out why. The Eldren smiled slightly at both of them, "Very good. I will see you both then. You are both dismissed." Elizabeth stated
Once both Cronk and Sasha had left, Elizabeth called Harold back. She explained to him about the sheets, and asked him to speak to Miss Ipsum about any small handheld item she felt might be of use for later, Harold said he would take of both. Then Harold left her office. There was a lot to do, and time was not on Elizabeth’s side to get it done.
