Breakfast News
JP with Lasersexpanther, mdman, Lorem, Jaxx and Cindy
Cronk had a pile of crepes with fruit that would satisfy an elephant, if elephants were to eat crepes. Cronk wondered how something that ate plants could get so huge. He couldn’t eat just plants. He needed meat too. So, Cronk added several types of sausages.
The German sausage was wurst. Cronk snickered at that thought. It wasn’t worst, but was called wurst so that it sounded if it were bad tasting. Cronk actually liked the taste. He liked scrapple and pan haus as well.
Cronk seemed famished this morning. He didn’t know why, but he felt like packing in a lot of food. Normally, this was a winter habit, his body attempting to keep warm.
Cronk thought of the Good Doctor’s words. The people he has hurt deserved what they got. They had hurt or tried to hurt others, so it was Cronk’s duty to show them their actions were wrong.
“People deserved,” Cronk insisted. He couldn’t see the Good Doctor hurting good people.
Lorem was likewise famished; however, a full plate for her looked almost like a large bite to Cronk. She enjoyed her breakfast, people watching the others with a satisfied and pleasant look on her face.
Halfway through her third bite, she slowed down and paused. She looked to the door that Lady Elizabeth exited through a moment ago. It was very obvious she was listening to whatever was taking place on the other side and it seemed to stupefy her motor skills. She was fixated and motionless at the moment.
Lily was distracted while looking at the good doctor till she heard Lady Elizabeth from outside the room. Her eyes bulged out a bit and she turned to her food and picked at it as she heard the outburst. She was not sure what to do so she didn't speak of it as she nervously looked around.
Lorem made brief eye contact with Lily. She discerned that she must have heard the sudden outburst too. Lorem did not believe in gossiping so she kept what she heard to herself.
She continued eating.
Dr Jackal saw Lily stop eating and pick at her food with an odd expression on her face. He asked, "Did you loose your appetite Ms. Lavigne?" Lily snapped out of it as she looked red in the face as she replied, "Oh a bit I guess." Dr. Jackal nodded as he said, "Perhaps you need more rest or a proper tonic." Lily nodded as she replied, "Perhaps later if needed. I appreciate your concern doctor." Dr. Jackal then looked at Cronk and forced a smile as he replied, "I thank you for your kind words Mr. Cronk, but sadly I doubt there is another soul in this world that would willingly trade places with me after seeing what I have seen and done." Dr. Jackal had a pained expression on his face as he sipped his coffee.
Sasha listening to the morning conversation taking a sip of water through a brass straw before slipping a bit of overly crisp bacon under the vail, with a snap. She was still tired and was spacing out a bit, between bites.
A few minutes went by and Elizabeth returned. She asked one if the servants for a fresh cup of tea as hers had gotten cold, then sat back down.
The Eldren had contemplated on the way back what to say as, at least some in the room had probably heard her outburst. Maybe, best to address it head on. "I have a few things to discuss with everyone," she said after a moment to sip some tea.
Cronk looked a Sasha. Her movements hadn’t seemed as smooth and fluent this morning as they had before this morning.
“Masked One alright?” he probed.
Sasha looked at Cronk and her eyes showed she was giving a smile. "Thank you for your concern." She said "I was injured last night helping the child's family. I made a miscalculation and was shot as a result, and after the commotion last night I needed help getting to sleep so I am a bit hungover." She said taking another drink of water.
Lorem glanced between Cronk and Sasha, her eyes lingering on the latter. She hadn’t realized late last night that Sasha was injured. The woman carried, or hid, her burdens well. It didn’t seem like Sasha considered them serious injuries, lest she would have sought out a healer by now.
Lorem returned her attention back to Elizabeth and awaited whatever she was about to say.
When it seemed like she had everyone's attention, Elizabeth spoke up again. "I first want to apologize to all of you. I know some of you likely heard that outburst a few minutes ago. It was uncharacteristic of me, and not something that will happen often." She paused. "Until recently, the estate next to ours was not occupied. The couple that own it Lord Michael Sapping and his wife Lady Viola Sapping own it and were not in town, clearly they arrived recently. Lord Michael is a quiet man, but friendly. If you see him around at any point, he's not a concern. He though keeps to himself most of the time. His wife, Lady Viola, is another matter altogether. She is a known, well for lack of a more polite way to put this, a neighborhood busybody. She will always find something to complain about. Most people pay her little attention. However, that is difficult to do when she arrives at your home. If you encounter Lady Viola, just be as polite as possible to her. If she is a problem, let me know. I will not let her cause problems for us." Elizabeth was obviously determined to do as she said. She waited a moment in case anyone had anything to say on the matter.
Dr. Jackal sipped his coffee and enjoyed the flavor before he spoke voiced his thoughts. Dr. Jackal replied, "I'm sorry to hear that Lady Elizabeth. The "Busy Body" type personality was one of the main reasons I was always on the move in the past since they tend to be nosy like reporters. I will do my best to avoid her." Lily looked at Dr. Jackal as he spoke up then looked at Lady Elizabeth to see her response. She knew better than to gossip over what she heard earlier, however this was a lot of stress for teenager stepping into the adult world. She wondered how they all kept their composure despite the crazy circumstances they were under.
"I will do my best Lady Elizabeth but I can not promise that I will hold my tongue entirely if the matter is pressed." Sasha said before taking another bite of bacon.
'Maybe Busybody get caught in Pretty Flower’s traps,' Cronk thought with a chuckle.
He turned his attention back to Sasha. “Cronk slept good too,” he said. “Who shot Masked One? Cronk teach lesson.”
Lorem showed Lady Elizabeth her understanding of the matter with a look of affirmation. Being a gnome in Germany had prepared her for such type of people. It would not trigger her into a reflexive response.
As she continue enjoying her breakfast, she actively listened to the other conversations starting up again around the table. Every now and then she would get distracted by the staff talking and other noises outside the room.
Elizabeth noticed the look in Lorem’s face and nodded in thanks. Then turned her attention to the others. "Dr. Jackal I do appreciate that. You are mostly in your lab, and I do not believe that Lady Viola will approach the back area, so hopefully there will be no issues with that." She then turned to Sasha. "Miss Lagrave, that is understandable I am just asking for no one to go out of their way to antagonize her. It is unlikely she will voice her opinions to anyone in the house but me."
Elizabeth didn’t know what was going on with Cronk. He had started a conversation after she had mentioned needing to speak with everyone and now tried to go back to the conversation even though Elizabeth hadn't said she was finished. It was odd because usually he was far more attentive and it was kind of underminding her authority. If it wasn't Cronk she might think he was doing it on purpose. As it was Elizabeth cleared her throat. "Cronk, can you please wait on whatever you want to discuss with Miss Lagrave until I am finished? What else I have to discuss will not take much longer. Thank you." It was spoken calmly, but Elizabeth just waited for a moment for the table to get quiet again before continuing. "Mr. Sung gave me a report. He said he and Mr. Aster met with one of the members of the Children of the sea that is in charge, of at least part of the organization. Cronk, if you recall, you had that meeting with Mr. Staniadis. It was at that time I snuck in and found their temple. Mr. Sung and Mr. Aster were led to that same temple. They were shown a secret room with Arundan artifacts in it. Mr. Sung said they have been invited back tonight for a meeting of the Children." She sipped some water before continuing. "Mr. Sung and Mr. Aster need backup from us. Some of us, anyway."
