The Cursed Doctor

Location: Senlis, France: The Abbey of St. Vincent - (French Abbaye Saint-Vincent de Senlis), was a former monastery of canons regular in Senlis, Oise, which was dissolved during the conflict with Catholicism, the late Cardinal Claudis, Cardinal Tomas de Torquemada and late Pope Torguemada.

I had been a long day as a ragged looking Dr. Maximillian Jackal was done resetting a broken leg of a mason worker who had an accident. It was a typical situation where a worker got injured due to the bad judgement of his boss making unreasonable requests in order to look good socially. The workers were often deprived of a lunch break, rest time and sleep when the deadlines were cut shorter by the employers. The management saw no problem in working their people to death as they simply hired a replacement without so much as blinking an eye.

Dr. Jackal was a former licensed Doctor, but due to his past he was on the run and trying to keep a low profile. Since he needed money to survive and he had a certain skill set, he worked as an underground doctor for the poor. Sadly he was working for mere rations in order to survive, but he had little choice since he was wanted in England for murder.

Ever since he lost his parents in an accident long ago when he was in the University, he preferred to avoid getting close to others since he is not fond of emotional loss. He graduated alone and continued his pursuit of science since he needed to keep his mind working to avoid dark thoughts. Dr. Jackal excelled in many subjects like Biology, Medical Science, Occult and Biochemistry. He learned many languages such as the Queens English, American English, French and Spanish. It didn't take long before he was a member of the elite science community and began his research into evolving humanity. He had a dream to make people stronger, smarter and faster in order to reduce the level of violence humanity suffered from.

Ironically as Dr. Jackal made a lot of progress in his research he came across a red crystal which was rumored to be a crystal made of the blood of a demon. After much progress in his work Dr. Jackal made a super serum. What was suppose to make him evolve to a super human went very wrong. He accidently bonded with demon blood and developed two personalities. One personality was Dr. Jackal while the other was that of an enraged big red demon who had a tasted for humans tainted with evil. During his transformation the doctor was mentally gone and the demon went on a killing rampage in England as it slaughtered and ate many criminals in the slums.

It didn't take long before the police began to figure out it was Dr. Jackal to blame for the murders. So Dr. Jack took what he could from his home and led a life on the run for many years. He tried to avoid people as much as possible since they could make him angry and trigger off the transformation. Sadly his research went missing and it was unknown where it ended up. After a killing spree for many years, he has been on the run trying to find a cure. Now that he is cursed with his inner demon he tries to keep a low profile since he is a wanted man in England for many murders committed by Big Red, the big red tatooed demon, who was getting more intelligent each life he took and ate.

As he washed the blood off his hands he cleaned his face in an old basin. He was tired and hungry again. Life on the run was hard and very unhealthy. Ironically the one thing that gave him peace of mind was the stock pile of coffee in the abbey that was left behind. Dr. Jack made a fresh batch of black coffee and then poured himself a cup in an old tin cup. He inhaled the aroma before he sipped it and let the warm liquid sooth his parched throat. This was his only joy in life these days and he was glad he still had access to coffee. He was worried he would have to run away again and knew the odds of being in a better place were not good. So he put his feet up on an old wooden stool to rest his eyes in hopes for a better tomorrow.
