Busy Hands

Dr. Jackal nodded as he replied, "Understood." Lily nodded as she replied, "Yes Lady Elizabeth. I am still expecting the cupboard for the mail room as well."
Vor couldn’t think of anything to add, already wrapped in the details of this mission, nodding with the others.
Cronk was relieved when Lady Elizabeth clarified his duty was to protect her. He was beginning to worry that he would be asked to read something to find clues or information. Cronk was much better at hearing information than he was reading to find it.
“Ta!” Cronk responded, his time in Ireland coming through in the affirmative. “When leave?” he asked.
When Sasha had nothing to add, it seemed like a good place to end the meeting. Elizabeth declared such, "That is it then. Meeting dismissed."
After the second meeting Lily left to the mail room again while the good doctor made his way to the lab to work on breaking down two more serum samples. Lily on the other hand made her way to the mail room to begin writing responses to the letters in the baskets. She decided to put on some music on the phonograph to enjoy as she prepared herself for a lot of writing.
The music was very soothing as she responded to several letters using her "standard response letter", which she wrote for others to copy a proper response for certain letters. The only changes were the underlined parts for names, addresses and the monetary amount being donated to whatever cause was listed. This process made the whole response much faster and reduced the chance of any mistakes in representing Lady Elizabeth. Since Lily came from a wealthy posh and proper background, she was well aware how letters worked in the real world. They were evidence of one's standing and position so they were not to be take likely. Oddly enough if they were written properly they would be accepted and thrown away later on, but there were some who would hold them and use them as leverage for greedy desires. Lily would not allow her benefactor to fall into that trap. This is why she made the whole mail room process to avoid any mishaps since Lady Elizabeth would clearly out live Lily due to her longer lifespan. This meant Lady Elizabeth would have many secretaries in her lifetime.
After completing most of the letter responses Lily heard someone approaching and knew it was Harold by his aftershave. He knocked on the door as he brought in a tray of tea for Lily and greeted her. Then he told her the tea was for after installing the cupboard since it had arrived. Lily was happy to see the arrival of the cupboard to finish her big project. So she went with Harold to see the cupboard outside and the helpers who would aid her in bringing it in. After figuring out the best position to bring it in to reduce hitting the walls and less turns, they brought in the cupboard. Once inside the house they gently brought it into the mailroom and set it up in the designated spot Lily and Harold picked out. Then they secured it to the wall to keep it from falling over and endangering anyone in the future.
Once this was done Lily and Harold thanked the helpers and put the baskets into the proper slots on the cupboard as well as the office supplies in the bottom shelf. Lily felt very proud as she admired the new mailroom. Harold seemed pleased that it was well organized and designed to make his life easier with new employees. Then a new delivery came in for Lily from lady Elizabeth.
It was a fancy typewriter for her mail work. Lily seemed happy by this but explained to Harold that they would still need to hand write the VIP letters since it had a personal tough and reflected well on Lady Elizabeth. The letters that would be typed would be the instruction letters, the letters to orphanages, simple business letters and such. The letters involving the high society needed to be written in hand in order to prevent any friction for Lady Elizabeth. Harold agreed to this level of thinking as he aided Lily in making the new typed out instructions for each basket as well as new labels. The colored ribbons were important to the baskets as they matched the slots and labeled the level of importance of each basket. Once they were on a roll they knocked out the last of the mail and Harold checked the outgoing mail box before he approved them for delivery. Since it was difficult to keep track of so many letters, Lily made a spreadsheet to keep track of letters coming in by date, from who, to who, the amount included, any needed details and the time it was mailed out. This way they could keep track of if a letter was indeed responded to in case some foul play was afoot.

Meanwhile Dr. Jackal made his way back to the lab and quickly got to work breaking down the serum samples marked #4 and #5. As usual he needed time to break down the recipe by doing routine tests to see if a reaction would happen in each stage. This aided him in narrowing down the direction he needed to test for each ingredient. As the time went by he was interrupted by the maids bringing in coffee and snacks for him. He had to humor the maids or Lily would come to pick on him again, even though he really wanted to focus on his work. Eventually during tea time Lily came by to check up on the good doctor and see if he was not going overboard again. They had a small chat over coffee and snacks before she watched him finish up his work. Once he was done Lily took his report and told him he needed to relax before dinner. After escorting the good doctor to his room she dropped off Dr. Jackal's report on Lady Elizabeth's desk.
