After breakfast, Sung went to his room and changed his clothing. His suit was dark colors of Grays and black. With Cotton tie straps that are non-elasticized. The sturdy brass pocket watch measures the two-inch diameter, and 1/2 inch in depth, and features an open-face solid brass case and ring, and a black face Attached by a metal chain. Adjustable braces with durable elastic and brown leather trim. Sinclair Edwardian Club Collar Shirt White in color. Jacket and vest with black Captain's Mid-Calf boots. He walked over to his Cane it was a sliver ornate wolf handle. and hardwood shaft and steel cap at the end. he looked over his Vest placing some silver coins in one of the pockets. He tied his signature sash around his waist. he pick up his cane and waited down starts for the others. He sent for a carriage (taxi) he sent word to the others that The carriage would be there soon.
Cronk took the clockwork gift that Pretty Flower has made him to his quarters. He placed it next to the fresh bottle of bourbon placed on the stand by the maid. He took a quick swig of the drink and headed down the hallway to meet the Wise One and the Young Lady.
He understood his duty to the Young Lady. From the discussion the last couple of days, there had been an attempt to kidnap her. Her father had been kidnapped. Cronk tried to imagine the trauma the Young Lady must be experiencing. It must be why she had thrown herself into doing so much since she had been accepted to support the team. Cronk often had done much more than requested when faced with stress. Of course, not much stressed Cronk. Except injustice. Injustice and poverty. Injustice, poverty, and sickness. Injustice, poverty, sickness, and rudeness. And being snubbed. Come to think of it, there was a lot that stressed the orc. He just shook his head and went on to meet the two he was assigned to protect.
Lily freshened up in her room after breakfast and took a big breath for some courage before she muttered, "I hope this ends well." Then she put on a forced smile and left her room to meet with Cronk and Mr. Sung in the hallway. Seeing the rather large Cronk and the intimidating Mr. Sung she knew it would be difficult for anyone to kidnap her but the fear still lingered in her mind. She did want her belongings back but most of all she wanted her mother's music box back since it was very precious to her. It was all she had left of the mom she never met. With her father kidnapped and her life being in chaos she put on a brave face and waited till she could board the taxi.
The rather large carriage pulled up Sung was not a fool and Orcs or Mr. Cronk are not small individuals. Sung had never seen a small Orc unless they were a child and even then taller than Human children of the same age. Where Miss Lavigne was different. She was five and a half feet tall thought Sung and always wore high-fashion clothing like Lady Elizabeth.
As the four-horse carriage pulled up Sung let Mr. Cronk in first and let him have the back seat allowing Miss Lavigne and Sung st sit across from him. He knocked on the glass twice with his nuchal and the carriage started to move off.
The Butler close the front door of the house and sent someone to tell Lady Elizabeth that Sung had departed.
Cronk sat sideways across the seat so his knees were not in the Wise One’s face. He stretched across, almost lounging, his large feet against the door.
Looking at Lily, Cronk thought that even though Lily belonged to the high society, she seemed much different than Lady Elizabeth. They were both about the same age, but Lily did not carry herself as the high society type.
“Much to get?” Cronk asked. “Maybe we find clue.”
Sung hoped there would not be much to get. Elizabeth had indicated earlier that there were a few items of interest. Sung looked at Miss. Lavigne to see what she would answer.
Lily replied, “I will be in your care.” Even though she was scared she knew this was far from over till her father was rescued and her attackers were defeated.
“Cronk and Wise One will keep Young Lady safe,” Cronk stated matter-of-factory.
Cronk kept his eye on the door almost as expecting someone to jump into the door to nab Lily. If that were to happen, they’d get a size twenty foot leaving an imprint upon their chest.
" With Mr. Cronk with us, I dought we will have too much trouble when we arrive will walk behind you looking more like servants. This way we will blind in more, Miss. Lavigne" explained Sung.
The street was quite busy with people as they got close to the hotel all going on their way for the day. Sung seemed to look out the windows now and then other carriages passed but they never got to close. They could hear the cobblestone street as the wheels rolled over it. The day is breezy but not too hot.
They turned down a few streets and traveled under an archway into a circle and pulled up to the front door a man in a black suit walk up opened the door and stepped to one side. Sung stepped out of the carriage and gave his hand to Miss. Lavigne so she could get out.
Cronk stepped out after the Young Lady. The carriage nearly capsized as it rebounded from the loss of weight on one side.
Cronk looked around at the elaborate courtyard. It was beautiful, but Cronk only shook his head. The rich poured money into things that would bring them more pleasure. If they would invest money into those who could not provide for themselves, Cronk thought the return would be greater. Being here brought a greater urging for Cronk to make a difference to the people he had seen yesterday.
Cronk stayed just behind Lily. “Cronk here to help, Lady La Vine.” He wasn’t sure that was the correct name. It’s what he had heard. The Young Lady was much easier for Cronk.
Lily smiled as she gave a nod to Cronk. She replied, "Thank you, Mr. Cronk. Well, this is the hotel. We are on the third floor in room 311. Unfortunately, the butler had the key so I am not sure how we will get in if the front desk does not offer a spare key. I hope you have a plan for this Mr. Sung?"
“Door not stop Cronk,” the orc hastily replied, not waiting for the Wise One to answer.
Cronk found there were many ways to open a door without a key. Most involved the destruction of the door.
Letting Lily walk in first and they started to go to the front desk. "Just asked for the key to your room. Normally there are two keys," explained Sung looking around and making note of anyone that took too much interest in them. The front desk was not hard to find. it was straight ahead. This place smelled and looked like a high society. The highly polished floors wood everything immaculate. As they reached the desk Sung stood back also signaling Cronk to stay back so Lily could get her key.
Lily put on her high-class social face that she used her whole life and approached the front desk with Mr. Sung and Cronk behind her. This was a normal routine for her as she traveled a bit in the past. She greeted the lady at the desk and introduced herself as she explained that her butler still had the key to her room before he left with her father. Oddly enough there was a lot of truth in her story which made it more believable when heard. The desk clerk then checked the registry and verified that Lily Lavigne was indeed a guest before she opened a cabinet to retrieve a spare key. She made a note of the key situation in the hotel log and explained to Lily that they would be billed for the keys if they were not returned when checking out. Lily told her she would let her father know as she took the key and made her way to the elevators with Mr. Sung and Cronk behind her.
Once in the elevator, Lily kept looking straight as she told the elevator operator to take them to the third floor in a rich but polite manner. The music in the elevator was made by a music box to help distract the patrons from the dreary ride to their rooms. Once they reached the third floor the doors opened and the elevator operator told them they arrived and it was safe to exit. Once out of the elevator a bell rung to alert the operator know he had more guests to move. Then the doors closed and it went back down to the first floor leaving Lily, Mr. Sung and Cronk looking down the empty hallway. Lily then gave the key to Mr. Sung and told him her room was 311 on the left side by her father's room which was 315. Then she mentioned the butler's room was 314 on the right side across from them. She was nervous when she said that as she was working up the courage to move forward.
Cronk walked behind the others, glancing behind him at times. The hallway appeared long. The carpet felt thick beneath his feet. The lap of luxury, this hotel.
Once outside the room, Cronk nodded to the others. “Cronk stay. Watch outside.”
Sung took a few steps in front of Lily Looking for any signs of trouble. The hallway was just as elaborate as the rest of the hotel. The brass fittings are all highly polished. With Zanshin, Martial Art Awareness he could feel others moving around in the other rooms but nothing that is a threat.
The room was halfway down the hallway. Sung stopped at room 311. Sung focused on the door placing his hand on it. Sometimes you could feel the vibrations if someone was on the other side. He also focused on Zanshin and could feel nothing He held his hand out for the key to Lily's room. "Key please, It looks like no one is there," commented Sung.
Lily gave the key to Sung and nervously watched as he unlocked and opened the door. The lights were off as she left them and sniffed the air a bit then looked at Sung and nodded her head no to let him know she didn't smell anyone in the room. She replied, "It looks like not even housekeeping has entered my room since I let it." Then she pointed at the other two rooms as she said, "This is my father's room and this is the Butler's room."
Cronk remained outside. He stood alert, looking down either side of the hallway. Cronk was alert because it was quiet. Too quiet. The hotels he had been inside were always bustling with activity. The whole ordeal caused the hairs on the back of Cronk’s neck stand.
“Cronk no like,” he said in through the door. “Too quiet.”
Lily turned the lights on and saw no one in the room. Using her world eyes and nose she could see no one had entered the room since she left. Seeing as it was clear she quickly collected her things that were still packed in her bags. The only thing she took out was her mom's music box and she quickly packed it into her bag after rolling it in her clothing for protection. It only took her a few minutes to collect her stuff since she had planned to leave the hotel after coming back anyway. She looked at Mr. Sung and Cronk as she said, "I'm packed and ready Mr. Sung and Mr. Cronk. So unless you want to check out my father's room or the butler's room we can leave anytime now."
Sung Looked at Cronk "I think you are right Cronk. The room was not touched. Someone had to instruct the staff to not touch it. and by the dust. It has been a few days even the fireplace has not been started since Miss. Lavigne was last here." stated Sung looking about. "Yes, I and Cronk will check us check out the other rooms," said Sung. As Miss. Lavigne collected her things Cronk and Sung went to door 315 to her father's room. checking the door was still locked. "Cronk, can you open the door quietly?" asked Sung.
In another room in the hallway, five men were listening to what was going on in the hallway. "I think that's her," said one of the men peeking through the door into the hallway. when they go into the other room we go and get her. Prest get your magic ready. said another man.
Cronk gave Sung a devious grin. Normally, Cronk would just plow into the door, splitting the timber. Quietly was the key term, and Cronk only knew of one way to do so quietly.
He tightly grasped the knob of the door, giving it a quick powerful turn. A crunching noise could be heard as Cronk did so. As he removed his hand from the door, the outer knob remained in Cronk’s hand. Using his pinky finger, which was the only one that would fit, Cronk pushed the inner knob back out of the door. The only noise was the knob hitting the floor on the other side. Cronk then moved the lock mechanism with the same pinky and the door opened of its own accord.
“Cronk go first this time,” he insisted, believing that if there was a threat inside, Cronk could quickly dispatch of it.
Entering the room, Cronk did not seem to notice anything out of place. Of course, the room wasn’t his. Things could have been out of place to the one who had been dwelling in the room. Only that person would have noticed. But to Cronk, everything appeared normal. Nothing tipped over. Orderly.
Lily watched nervously as Cronk opened her father's room. She was not sure if it was empty or a trap. Despite having the very large and muscular Cronk with and the quick and strong swordsman named Mr. Sung, Lily still felt nervous. She was still getting used to this new lifestyle where dangers lurked everywhere. Perhaps she never noticed it in her past since she was constantly hiding her true identity, but now that she knew her life was going to be in constant danger began to fidget as she held her and watched the two men take charge.
Sung stepped into the room. It was the same some dust no fire in the fireplace. this gave him an uneasy feeling. He looked nothing no sign of a struggle not even a crack lamp glass. no signs the room was clean of any evidence. With cronk and Sung in the room and Lily in the doorway. The men in the other room decided, to make their move to abduct Lily.
