Meanwhile.... Back At Headquarters
Baron Greenwood had started looking into the new team members the moment Elizabeth's team left headquarters. Finding out info about them would take time. Greenwood wanted to be thorough, leaving no stone unturned. He wanted to present Elizabeth and possibly her father with anything proving that he was correct, Elizabeth was too young and inexperienced to run a team.
The Baron had known the Lady since long before she was granted that title at 16. All Eldren are given their Lord or Lady titles, at that age. For those in the main Eldren cities of London, Paris, Moscow or Petersburg, it is a once a year celebration given by the crowns. For Elizabeth, she had the title bestowed to her by Queen Victoria.
Greenwood knew Elizabeth was smart and had been trained well but it didn't change his mind. He had now gotten more of a taste of just how headstrong she could be, and it kind of irritated him.
The Baron was just waiting on her messing up, so badly that her father had no choice but to dismantle her team. So badly that she would be made to work in some other capacity for the Order. Then it was simple, get to work with the Baron, at the Paris Headquarters. After all, the Baron wasn't getting any younger and Elizabeth would certainly produce a fine offspring. It would be work, but a little challenge made things interesting. Still, he also wished he hadn't promised to stay away from the gnome engineer, Lorem. He would keep his word, but, at least in his mind, young and naive Lorem would have been easy to con into something.
As, he found himself lost in a train of thought, a knock on his door could be heard. "Enter," Greenwood called out.
Elise entered, and bowed. "Sir, there have been reports of a monster on the docks. Word has it, it's fighting a group in one of the warehouses."
"One of our teams." The Baron asked.
"It sounds like Lady Elizabeth’s team." Elise responded.
A look somewhere between concern and smugness crossed the Baron's face. "I see. Get Miss Aberly to get one of the large vans with storage for bodies in the back. Tell her to make sure it can accommodate anyone who might need it, and to bring along two that can lift bodies."
Elise looked concerned, "Do you think they're…?"
"I really hoped not, but you know as well as I do what happened to the last team that had to tackle a monster." The Baron's expression changed more to full concern. "Now, hurry."
"Yes, Sir." Elise left the office and headed to get Gemma.
