Too Close

Just as Voah was turning around, the witch caught her witch a downward strike. Hearing the scuff of sand and feeling a sudden thrill of magik had given her just enough time to make the dagger miss it’s intended fatal mark, slicing instead diagonally across here back, tearing cloth and rending flesh. The open wound skin stung.

Voah swung the rest of the way around in slight pain and panic, knocking the witch back with one arm and swinging the sword at her. It caught the witch's forearm forcing her to let out a shriek in alarm and stumble backward again. That was too close.

By now, the man who Voah had bludgeoned with the censer was on his feet again and teaming up on Alcuin, who wqs forced to back up right between Voah and the witch, thwarting her once again. Voah started to question whether the Pillars were with her this night.

Alcuin nearly tripped from the chains on the ground as he was pressed, but caught himself. He would've taken a death blow from one of the dark robes if Voah hadn't been right there to block the man's blade and counter with a kick and strike of her own, separating them and severing the dark robe's sword hand by the wrist. She grabbed up the chain of the second censer, swinging it around and gaining momentum. The man went to block high with his bleeding stump and his free arm to avoid a hard blow to the head, but Voah let it loose low and sideways to wrap around the man's legs. It bashed a shin and sent him to the sand where she followed up by encircling the chain around his neck and pulling hard. It was good to know these fighters hadn’t before faced such techniques.

This was not going well for Ba'hela. She found this to be her best opportunity to make off into the night while the two intruders were occupied and hoped her blood magik would be enough to take them out.
