Alexis drifted awake, yet again the remnants of nonsensical dream imagery slipping away before she could quite grasp them.
She didn’t really know how late it was - spending several days down here had seriously messed with her sense of time.
Funny to think that wandering the streets amongst people that would probably prefer to see her dead could be better for her health, if only her mental one.
Speaking of people who at least should want her dead… Agizul. That conversation they had the night before felt completely surreal now. How had that even happened? Even more so, had he truly asked her to meet again today? Why? A trap? But why the effort? If he had wanted her dead or incarcerated, she was pretty sure he could have gotten that done then and there…
A look upstairs told her that it seemed to be mid morning, so she would have some time until they were supposed to meet. If she actually risked to go.
…
Which, let’s face it, she would. She still had a hard time believing Agizul was actually willing to help a declared enemy, but at this point she couldn’t help but be intrigued by the bizarre situation.
And who knew? He was a priest of the Twin Gods. Who better to shed light on at least some of the aspects that she just could not grasp without a proper background? She might learn something worthwhile in the end.
Still, it would not hurt to be careful in case this did turn out to be an overelaborate trap.
Alexis wanted to leave the hammer head behind, but found that she couldn’t bring herself to. She imagined it had been the same for Tar. Fine. If she got caught and that hammer head got subsequently buried on the over side of the continent, Fosia had only himself to blame…
When the time came to meet around noon, Alexis geared herself up for possible trouble and found her way to the north of the city, near what Agizul had called the ‘Old Gate’.
The mercenary paused a moment, taking in an old abandoned building sporting two domes, one of which looked like a large boulder crashed through it. Indeed, she couldn’t miss it.
She spend some time looking for any indication that Agizul might not be quite as alone as he claimed he would be, but found none. So finally she just took the plunge and stealthily entered the building.
Even with him being the one to set up this meeting, she was still a little surprised to actually find him waiting there.
