Climbing back up (reflections on the last six months)
The fight was painful and Wim did his best to tend to his wounds. He also did his best to gather the items of Master Blackwolf to bring back. His notes would provide some insight for someone. He grabbed his weapon, his lantern, coin purse, and bag with writing supplies. Then he gathered his knives.
Wim set out to give Wolf a proper burial site with the rocks he could pull out of the tunnel. He was grateful for the lights the runes cast in the hall allowing him to save his torch for the trip back. With one arm, the process was not smooth and it took time.
When he completed the pile, he started the journey up to the surface. He started thinking about his life here in the new world. What was the best thing that had happened to him, Ms. Sadir, of course. That would be his official answer. Having people that cared about him was a close second and now seeing magical runes that produced light had his imagination running.
As he started the crawl up, he found that he needed to rest a bit more often than he wanted. Getting slightly stuck, he thought about the worst thing. Was it the drug that plagued his mind? The killing of the girl? Fighting with Master Blackwolf was fairly high on the list. As a rat ran across his hand, he thought being eaten by rats could be added if he did not get moving again. Killing the girl and Blackwolf was probably the worst thing. Her face still played in his mind when it was dark. Now Wolf would haunt his mind everyday he spent with Ms. Sadir.
It took a lot longer to get to the surface than his trip down. The smell of bat guano became stronger them the room opened up. It was hard to get out, stand and not light the piles of guano on fire in the process. he made his way back to the camp and collapsed on his blanket and slept. His wounds still bleeding through the bandages.
