Simple Meditation Chant

JP with Gonyaul and Voah:

Gonyaul had a look of bliss radiating from his exhausted expression. Voah had fallen asleep against him without answering the question about what would make her perfect day. He thought this moment was the making of a perfect night; to be near her again. He held her as close as he could without exposing himself, his clothes still drying on a rock.

Closing his eyes, Gonyaul began singing a simple Vauxian meditation chant. His voice was barely that of a whisper.

"Iesnij on bōnek aw ubanam usedotok...

Iesnij on iketukom aw hciesō urus usedotok...

Iesnij on ustihsnoh aw akneh urus usedotok...

Iesnij on ustihsnoh aw aek urus usedotok...

Iesnij on iadak aw ukufukok urus usedotok...

Iesnij on iakik aw hōihs urus usedotok...

Iesnij on usiapus aw etea urus usedotok...

Iesnij on ustekih aw ihcadomot in uran usedotok...

Iesnij on nihs on ihsukustu-as aw ureata usedotok"

-- Start of Translation --

The adventure of life is to learn
The purpose of life is to grow
The nature of life is to change
The essence of life is to care
The challenge of life is to overcome
The opportunity of life is to serve
The spice of life is to dare
The secret of life is to befriend
The true beauty of life is to give

Once he finished singing he lovingly laid Voah down on a blanket. He then checked his clothes. They weren't dry yet on both sides, so he flipped them over on the rock. He then went back and laid down next to Voah, curled up in the blanket Tar gave him to keep warm, choosing to watch her sleep until his eyes could stay open no longer.

---

Clearly she had a lot of practice pretending to sleep. At some point, Gonyaul started singing in Vauxian and Voah heard it. The tune, if you could say it had one, was familiar to her. She often heard Yan'Dian hum the same mantra without words during work or meditation but she had never questioned him on it. All of the monastery students were encouraged to find their own means of focus anyway.

Gonyaul had said to her that she made his heart sing and now, she could hear it come out into the air to her ears. This was something she could get used to. Thank the Pillars she was safe in someone else's arms, for she had little strength of her own left to carry her before being found in those tunnels.

As he set her down on a blanket, Voah felt him leave momentarily only to return and curl up next to her. Then she finally drifted off to sleep until morning.
