Katia Katagiri the Cursed Blacksmith

Tav took one look at the hammer/axe and she was glad she didn't pick it up. "That was forged by the legendary blacksmith Katia Katagiri. For years she made the finest weapons in all the lands. She was the most sought-after blacksmith for decades. She signed all her work with that very symbol. The legends state that one day, a great and powerful wizard centuries old had a daughter slain. The wizard sought out anyone who had a hand in his daughter's death. Nothing is known about the killer but for Katia, the legend goes that the wizard put everything he had into a curse that would put all other curses to shame. Anything made by Katia bearing Katia's symbol would forever curse the user into turning into a cat. Some say they turn into a cat because that was his daughter's favorite animal others say the wizard liked puns. After the curse was placed Katia's business dried up and she died a bum without even a single coin to her name. No one knows for sure if the curse is real but no one I ever met will agree to touch anything made by Katia." Tav backed away. "So um uh good luck with that."
