Life In MegaCorp (Pt. 8)

Cook felt horribly guilty and bit at his bottom lip before getting to his feet and going to the two dead bodies. He needed to clean up the place for her, at least. “I’ll clean up…you rest.” He said, trying to keep the tremble out of his voice. Every encounter with Thrane shook him to his very bones.

Tzeitel climbed back into bed. She lay on her side, trying to find a comfortable position. The little bastards kept pressing on different organs. She hated being pregnant.

It would take Cook a good few hours to clean up, ignoring the alarms that were cut off only half an hour after it started anyway. He was more concerned about keeping his friend safe. “Please, Klaire…get here for her…” He whispered.

Tzeitel growled and sat up. One of the babies was treating her bladder like a punching bag and she needed to piss.

Cook looked at her. “Do you need help?” He asked.

“I just need the bathroom.” Tzeitel muttered, getting to her feet and staggering over.

Spotting the chair-cane, Cook grabbed it up and took it to her. He got the door for her, so she wouldn’t have to.

Tzeitel mumbled a thanks and hurried into the bathroom. She was not going to miss this.

Cook closed the door for her and waited.

“If you don’t stop punching my bladder I swear I’m going to find a fucking wire hanger.” Tzeitel grumbled at her stomach when she came out of the bathroom a little while later. She knew it was too late for that though.

Cook looked at her with worry. “It’s going to be okay.” He told her.

That was when Loreen walked in. “Oh, you have company.” She said, covering her mouth as she glanced back at the door. “Nero’s alarm was going off…”

“I had company, the bitch nurse transformed and attacked us. And Thrane was in here. He threw… he threw a dead body at us. Coral made a visit too.” Tzeitel shuddered, remembering what Coral had told her.

Loreen grimaced. She hated Coral. “I need to do a check-up, so can you sit on the bed?” She asked Tzeitel. “I’ll make sure Coral doesn’t come back…” She leaned in close to Tzeitel and whispered this time. “Klaire and the others are on their way here. Nero is loose.”

“Really?” Tzeitel asked in a whisper, sitting on the bed but cringing away from Loreen touching her.

Loreen nodded as she got Tzeitel’s vitals. She was very gentle with the pregnant meta, her mind on the task. “We’ll get you all out of here…”

Cook kept guard at the door.

Tzeitel tried to calm herself. She was so scared, so exhausted. And one of them babies was putting pressure on her bladder again.

“You have that ‘i need to piss’ look on your face. Want me to help you get there?” Loreen asked, putting her tools away.

Tzeitel grumbled, heaving herself off the bed and shambling to the bathroom yet again.

Loreen helped her by staying close in case she fell. “You should rest after this. You’ll need all the strength you can get when those kids are born.” She said.

“I’m not allowed to rest in this place.” Tzeitel said. “I keep getting harassed.”

“Well, we’re getting out of here, so get rest if you can.” Loreen persisted.

Cook stayed by the door to Tzeitel’s room, making sure the door stayed locked. Thankfully, no one was coming to bother them for once.

Tzeitel used the facility and stumbled back to bed. She could not understand how women could choose to go through this.

Loreen would stay and keep her company for a bit before going to care for other patients.

Cook was still at the door and looked at Tzeitel. “You want me to leave so you can rest?” He asked softly.

Tzeitel shrugged. She did not think she would be safe alone considering how often she was being attacked here.

Cook decided to set up fort by the door and sat there by it. He wasn’t going to let anyone but Loreen by. Sadly, if Thrane came back, he had no say in that. Anyone else would get a bullet to the skull, though.

Tzeitel tried to make herself comfortable and sleep.

Cook somehow got little naps in, but was always waking up to check the door.
