A Day In The Life Of Sorley (Pt 1)

After taking his shower Sorley lay awake for a long time, looking over the things the nurse had given him. He had shoved the condoms deep into his night stand. He decided if he tested positive for anything he was not going to trust a condom, he would break up with Gelf. She wanted to get married and have children someday, he would never do anything to hurt her and wanted her to be happy. Even if it meant her having to be with someone else. Sorley picked up his phone and texted “I love you” to her before rolling over and finally getting to sleep.

Gelf would send an “I love you” back with a little heart emoji. In the morning, she send him a good morning with a picture of Herbert and Carla running around in the yard with the dogs.

Sorley woke up to the phone buzzing with the sent text. He looked at the photo, smiling, but also reading and rereading Gelf’s three letter text. His stomach was in knots, worried about what results he would get. He got up to take a shower, sending Gelf a photo of another water sculpture. It was not his best because he was distracted with worry, but still an impressive and beautiful piece.

Gelf gazed at the image and smiled, sending a reply. “Your creativity is amazing!”

Sorley puffed up his chest a little, then got to work. He was thinking about the tests, expecting bad news in the results. Should he be texting Gelf, leading her on, if he was going to have to break up with her? Wasn’t he making it more painful?

As the day went on, Gelf got to work, but she let Sorley know she'd be visiting Yule in the afternoon.

“Let me know when you get here so I can see you.” Sorley texted.

Gelf’s reply: “I will, but you'll have to wait until I'm done visiting Yule.”

“Of course.” Sorley replied. He would never get between Gelf and her sister.

“I'll let you know when I'm done, though.” She replied with a little winking emoji.

Sorley smiled goofily which got his coworkers chuckling.

A few hours later, Gelf would finally tell him she'd arrived and was going to see her sister.

“I hope she's doing well.” Sorley texted Gelf.
