Sneaky Ladies

Taw was not reassured by the announcement or sound of explosion. She redoubled her useless attacks on the door, certain her baby was in mortal peril.

Hilda would appear in Taw’s room and hold out her baby to her. “Hurry!” She seethed, tossing clothes at her.

“What’s happening?” Taw asked, awkwardly getting dressed while holding her baby because she refused to let go of her child again.

“Someone from my past.” Hilda said as she helped Taw get dressed and literally tore the door open with her shadows. There was no way it could close on the woman if there was no door, after all. “Start moving. I’ll catch up.” She would disappear into the shadows, going to rescue her own children.

Taw did not know where to go, so she just started running from Duuk’s quarters. She thought quickly. Maybe if she got out of the compound she could escape from Amihan and the baselines invading. She wondered if Jasper was still alive.

Hilda would appear next to Taw with her two sons in her arms. “We should get to Nilima’s room.” She said.

“What happened to Jasper?” Taw asked.

“He got punished by Duuk. The whip.” She explained with a hint of disgust in her tone, leading Taw to Nilima’s room. She hoped that silly girl was actually in there this time.

Taw winced, feeling terrible for Jasper. It was not fair that he was being punished for her, that he loved her but couldn’t be with her because of Duuk.

Nilima had been about to take off again. She opened her door and was surprised to find Hilda and Taw holding her baby.

“It’s time to get the hell out of here, girl.” Hilda said to Nilima.

“Out to where?” Nilima asked. She had grown up hearing horror stories about how meta females were treated outside Amihan.
