Aunt Ami (Pt 3)
James took the other baby from Ami and let it rest in the crib with its sibling. They seemed to be more comfortable when allowed to cuddle together. “And I love you too, brat.” He said and ruffled up Ami’s hair.
Cody looked at them with wide eyes.
“You too, kiddo.” James told him and Cody went over, hugging both Ami and James.
Ami happily hugged them both. This was one of the things she wanted even more than going to Disney World.
“Oh, right,” James pulled from the hug and dug through a bag he’d brought in the night before after a grocery run. Holding up a special edition box set of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, he showed it to Ami and Cody. “I spotted it and had to get it for you.”
Cody smiled, knowing this would make Ami’s day brighter.
Ami squeaked and bounced on the balls of her feet even more, bouncing so much she caught air. She eagerly turned the box set around in her hands, looking at it. “Klaire should watch it with us.”
“I'm sure she'll love to.” James said, knowing Klaire would gladly watch it with them. She loved family time with her children.
“We should make lots of popcorn and drink soda.” Ami said.
“We’ll see about that,” James said. “Remember, we want to keep eating healthy too.”
“Popcorn isn’t too bad, and we haven’t had soda in a long time…” Ami said.
“Okay, but you know Klaire will be all ‘only one soda can each’,” James said with a chuckle.
Even Cody let out a little laugh.
“We should get vanilla ice cream too!” Ami grinned. Klaire was less likely to be strict when it came to ice cream.
James let out a laugh of his own. “I’ll be sure to get it from the cafeteria for us.”
Ami could be sneaky and manipulative, but always in ways to benefit her family. “She should be on her way back from Tzeitel’s therapy session… unless she is staying with Tzeitel…” Ami tried to not be jealous of how much of Klaire’s time Tzetiel got, she knew that Tzeitel needed a lot of support, but Ami was feeling Klaire’s absence.
James found a seat and let out a sigh. “She mentioned something about trying to get Tzeitel to come here for a visit, but I have a feeling that’s not going to happen…” He explained, also feeling his lover’s absence as of late. Klaire had apologized multiple times and always came back at night to be with them, but he still missed her.
What hurt him to see the most was how exhausted Klaire seemed now.
“I thought Tzeitel would be part of the family when she got here.” Ami said sadly.
“Me too, kiddo…me too.” James muttered. He knew Tzeitel would be in a state, but this had been far worse than expected.
Ami sniffled.
