Rivalry (Pt 2)

Riley blushed as she got closer and began taking his vitals. “Nero just needs time to adjust I know he is a good kid he was always nice during my visits back at…” he replied not wanting to dwell of his imprisonment.Plenty of nights he woke up from nightmares of that place, Thran, and Coral. Focusing back on Loreen he tilted his head in confusion. “Why don’t you like River she’s friendly and nice remember when we were watching that movie in my room and she showed up with snacks to share with us?”

“That was not nice!” Loreen snapped, suddenly annoyed. “She intruded on us having some private time together, Riley. I even said so.”

Riley flinched his body shaking, for a moment he was back in his cell with an angry coral “I'm sorry” he stammered. “I just thought you'd…. Be happy I was making a friend. I know you and chi worry that I don't talk to people.”

“I understand that, but you don't invite girls to your date night, Riley.” Loreen pointed out as she got some blood work. Every two weeks she was making sure to check his blood to check all his levels. Speedsters were so different when it came to vitals that she had to become an expert…

Riley looked down at the floor as she took his blood. Being raised in Megacorp in isolation he knew little to nothing on dating or social cues. The only thing he knew about relationship were what he saw other meta prisoners doing sharing food, sleeping in the same bed, and sexual acts.

“I'm sorry.” He whispered.

Loreen sighed heavily. “I'm not mad at you, Riley.” She explained as she wiped some rubbing alcohol over the needle mark so it would be clean as it rapidly healed. “I’m mad at her because that girl grew up outside of MegaCorp and should know better. I should confront her about it, but I don't exactly want to be turned into a tree.”

Riley grabbed her arm stopping her as he got up and wrapped his arms around her in a warm embrace. “I know i don't understand people too well but I'm trying, if something is bothering you or if I screw something up please tell me from now on.”

Loreen grimaced and tried to steady the tray in her hands that held the vials. “I will, Riley. I just don't like that…girl.” River was young and beautiful and it made Loreen actually self-conscious about her own age.

Riley nodded and nuzzled her cheek before sitting back down for her to continue his checkup.

Loreen never understood the nuzzling. It was more like what a cat would do, but she didn't complain. It felt nice.
