The Ironwood Rave Wrap Up Part 2: Spill
Cyd grabbed Mathias’ wrist, bringing his hand with the joint so she could take a good puff, holding the smoke in her cheeks like a hamster as she brought it to share with Olin.
Mathias shook his head laughing.
Olin’s smile broadened seeing Cyd all chimupunked cheek. “How thoughtful.”
Cyd made tiny sounds as her eyes started to water, trying her best not to swallow the drugs deep into her lungs so she could share the buzz with Olin. Bringing her lips to his, parting them gently, she exhaled, sharing the warm, dizzying smoke.
Olin took in a deep breath as the smoke curled between them, holding it in before letting out a slow exhale. “So much sweeter coming from your lips.” He said with a soft smile, arm slipping around her waist to pull closer, finger brushing her cheeks affectionately.
“Get a room!” Mathias shouted teasing the couple.
Cyd slid her arms around Olin’s neck, flipping her brother off and giggled, feeling giddy from Mathias’ antics, the proximity to Olin and the drug itself. “You heard the man,” she said, “I think we should take his advice.”
“It's good advice …” Olin agreed. “... we’ll put it to good use.” He chuckled twirling in a circle with her before giddily escorting her back waving to Mathias.
Serena near crashed into Cyd as she and Olin left the rave hand in hand. The pigtailed teen rolled her eyes, and set out to find Mathias.
Vas trailed behind her like her shadow and shrugged as he passed Cyd and Olin.
“Toldja!” Mathias said giggling a bit.
“Sorry we’re late,” Serena offered. “We were gonna go get ice cream. But I didn’t know if you wanted ice cream or not, and that was the only thing that happened worth talking about.”
Mathias gave Serena a look. “Okay, what happened.” He said taking a draw from the joint.
“I just toldja,” Serena told him. “We were gonna get ice cream, but I didn’t know if you wanted ice cream or not, on account of sometimes you have other parties you gotta sell drugs at.”
Vas stood innocently to the side trying to turn invisible.
“Serena. Whenever you say … that was the only thing that happened worth talking about … that means something happened worth talking about." Mathias said skeptically. “So … what happened that wasn’t worth talking about.”
“Aren’t you happier not knowing?” She asked. “I mean, maybe you need to find someone like Cyd did so you can not worry about things, otherwise you might need another joint.”
Mathias took another draw. “Oh, a second is happening without question. Also, it’s my job to worry.” He said exhaling a plume of smoke. “So you admit something happened. Spill.”
“I can’t. You’ll be super mad, and we’re outta vodka,” Serena explained. “Just know… it’s been taken care of.”
“Keep digging. You’re only making it worse.” Mathias said, cooly.
“Should … I wait anywhere else but here?” Vas asked meekly.
“There were some guys an’ they gave me some trouble but Vas took care of them,” Serena said, trying to sound nonchalant. “Brothers, this is the second time I seen ‘em at one of the raves.”
“What kind of trouble.” Mathias said his voice taking on a more serious tone.
“Just askin’ questions an’ takin’ pictures,” Serena said, sticking as close to the truth as possible. “With their glasses, they were takin’ pictures an’ I said that was rude, on account of it was.”
“Okay assholes and rude. What next?” Mahias said that he wasn’t getting the whole story. It was only because he and Cyd had practically raised the kid that he knew her tricks and habits.
“An’ they were askin’ about Carbon Copy, an’ takin’ pictures an’ I thought they might be jaggs so I ran an’ Vas… took care of ‘em.”
“Why would they be asking you about Carbon Copy?” Mathias asked in a tone bordering on demanding. The questions were not mounding but he remained focused on Serena for now.
“I think they asked a lotta people about Carbon Copy.” Serena said, her attention waning. “They were looking to buy an’ pay a lotta money for it. Didja want that ice cream?”
“Serena.” Mathias said sharply. “What happened. We got folk recording and taking pictures asking about a radioactive drug and Hobo …”
“Can we please stop call me a Hobo?” Vas piped in.
“... had to ‘take care of them’ which can implies a lot of things but one things I know it implies is they singled you out. So. Spill.” Mathias said firmly.
