Ironwood Rave Wrap Up Part 1 - Mathias & Cyd
“Serena and her hobo friend are supposed to be here to go home with you,” Cyd said, looking around at the stragglers. The rave had broken up, DJ Momentum having packed his equipment and pay and left. A few ravers rolling hard continued to shuffle in time with non-existent music, while others found quiet corners to crash or hook up.
Mathias gave Cyd a look. “Really? I'm not a baby.” He said, though it didn’t carry much weight with a sunset over one eye and the bandages around his wrist peeking out from under the jacket. “I bet she fell asleep or something. I’ll be fine, go, live a little.” Mathias nudged.
“I told her, no carrying home tonight,” Cyd said, looking around for the pigtailed menace. “No carrying her home,” she warned.
“I dunno how she would feel about being dragged.” Mathias said with a shrug. “I could give it a try but I’m telling her it was your idea.” He chuckled.
“She can walk,” Cyd said, looking back over her shoulder towards Olin.
“She’ll show up. Go.” Mathias insisted.
“Message me if she doesn’t,” Cyd said, eyeing Olin over as he looked for his handler. She turned her attention back to her brother. “Promise.”
“She’ll show up. She’s sixteen, what we did was worse then anything she’s done. Well … I did at least.” He smirked shoulder bumping his sister.
“That’s not as comforting as you think it is. Safety in numbers. Her hobo should come in useful for something,” she said, her voice trailing off as Olin smiled over at her.
“Yea yea yea … why are you still here don’t you have a boyfriend now?” Mathias said, poking his sister.
“He’s just a boy who is a friend, we’re not into labels,” she quipped back.
“That you have gone to for what? How many rounds now?” Mathias said innocently. “Were cresting out of the friend zone or friends with benefits.”
Cyd smiled back to Olin, while touching Mathias’ shoulder. “Don’t wait up,” she told him. “The benefits may take a good long while.”
“Not a chance.” Mathias snorted lighting up a joint. “Don’t behave!” He added.
Varan looked decidedly different from when they first arrived at the rave. Her long blonde hair stuck in sweaty clumps to the back of her neck, and the makeup which Olin had so carefully applied was smudged from where she’d used Olin’s scarf to wipe away perspiration. Her glasses had broken at one arm, and her hat was missing all together.
Olin lifted an eyebrow seeing Varan. “I didn’t catch a single glimpse of you all night? Seems though you managed to … find your own fun?”
“You’ll just have to use your imagination,” Varan replied. “I take it you’ll want a late start tomorrow?”
“I have a vivid imagination.” Olin warned. “A late start is mandatory, the party may be over for you but I still have a bit to go.” He said with an impish smile.
“Very well,” Varan said, leaning to give Olin a kiss on each cheek as was customary. “Your imagination couldn’t do it justice,” she whispered, walking off with an unmistakable swagger.
“She ate that poor man alive … or women. Good for her.” Olin said impressed. He thoughts came back to more immediate needs, smiling as he watched Cyd talking with her brother. He didn’t mind waiting for a good thing.
