JP - Cody's Anger
“What about…her?” Colt suddenly asked and gestured toward the cabin. “She looks like a very roughed up Loreen, so what’s with that? Just because she acts like she’s lost her memory doesn’t mean it’s true. What if she’s faking?”
“I doubt she’s faking, Colt,” Klaire interjected. “The emotions I smelled on her were genuine, but I also caught the scent of others on her. I’m positive that whoever caused that bite on her side was trying to get rid of her permanently…”
“Or it’s part of a plan to get back at us…” Colt grumbled.
“We’ll just keep an eye on her, so drop it.” James finally said, frowning at Colt. “We’re all tired from driving all day. Let's just relax and try to figure this all out one day at a time.”
“Yeah, whatever…” Colt replied.
“I don’t trust the Bitcher.” Tzeitel said, hugging her knees. “She brought Canestone back the first time we killed him. If-if he’s back she’s probably behind it. Lock that bitch’s door from the outside when there isn’t someone watching her. Put a fucking collar on her.”
Ami walked outside with Cody and pounced on Tzeitel with a bear hug. Tzeitel relaxed only for a moment to hug her sister back before frowning- she wanted to protect Ami from Canestone, that sick twisted fuck should still be dead and gone, dammit. There should not be any reason for Ami to know such a monster ever existed. “You and Cody should be inside with the other kids.”
"That's the thing," Cody spoke in a serious tone. "I'm not a kid anymore…"
Tzeitel sighed, still sitting on the ground hugging Ami. Cody was older than she was when she escaped MegaCorp, older than when she was abducted by Canestone for that matter. He should still be a teenager but metas did not get to enjoy things like normal childhoods.
"He's right " Riley sighed "we should tell him."
"It would be nice to know what's actually going on for once." Cody said, crossing his arms calmly, which made him look as old as his body was. "I'm done being left out when I can help. We all can help."
“We don’t even know if it’s true.” Tzeitel stood up, holding Ami’s hand. “And Ami sure as hell doesn’t need to hear about what Kiana thinks she saw.”
Ami guiltily looked down. She already knew it had something to do with Canestone from the twins, but she knew Tzeitel did not even want her to know about Canestone.
Cody bit back his anger and met Tzeitel's gaze.. "You can't shield her from the world forever, Tzeitel. We're all going to face some really nasty shit in this world all because of what we are. Hiding the truth isn't going to change or help it." He explained. "If we stay naive to what's really going on we might as well just hand ourselves over to MegaCorp!"
"Cody, calm down," Colt tried to interject but went silent when he got a look from the man that could frighten old school Loreen.
Tzeitel flinched at Cody’s anger, but what really hurt was that he was probably right. She glanced at Colt and Klaire, squeezing Ami’s hand. She still did not know what had made Ami so upset last night.
Cody looked at Ami, leaving it up to her to decide whether or not she wanted to tell Tzeitel.
"Canestone is back or at least a clone of him is" Riley interrupted " on top of that we found Loreen on the side of the road injured and missing her memories."
“Dammit Riley.” Tzeitel muttered.
Ami continued to quietly look at the ground, feeling guilty for knowing what she did. But when Riley said what he did she looked up in alarm.
"I know you kids are growing up and despite how much we try, you're going to be exposed to this world" Riley sighed "but unfortunately things have changed since five years ago, we're going to have to prepare them for anything."
Klaire nodded with Riley in agreement. “Yes, we need them to be as prepared as us when things start going sideways.” She explained. “Leon and Lotus are already aware of what to do if anything happens to me and/or James.”
“Same with Amber,” River replied. “She may seem meek and shy, but she’s a tough little girl.”
Cody walked over to Ami and Tzeitel, setting a comforting hand on Ami’s shoulder. “Do you want me to tell her?” He asked.
“Ami knows what to do if something happens. Just…” Tzeitel stiffened and looked at Cody. “What did you tell her?”
Ami flushed slightly.
“She wanted to know why I was so disgusted by what I read in your file and I told her…in a brief way. I didn’t go into details.” Cody admitted, pulling his hand away from Ami. “She was upset and wanted to know what was wrong because she wants to help you, Tzeitel. That’s all she ever really wants - to help you!”
Ami is the little sister, she shouldn’t have to help me. She shouldn’t have to know any of this. Tzeitel could feel herself starting to really freak out. “I-I need water.” She blurted, her hand going to her pocket for her pollen.
Ami felt tears coming to her eyes.
Cody sighed heavily and went back to the cabin, frustrated.
