JP - Under Attack - The Keep - Healing Room

The windows in the healing room were suddenly smashed open. Barely human creatures with scaled bat wings entered the healing room through the broken windows.

Miyuki ignored her pain as she got out of bed and hurled a ball of fox fire at one of the creatures that got too close to her. “What are these things?!” She cried out, pulling Millie away so she could avoid being attacked.

“Tria looks something like these things.” Millie said, grabbing a candlestick to use as a weapon.

It quickly became apparent that these creatures were after the babies. A few managed to snatch newborns and took off out the window with them. Mrs Royce was protecting her daughter with her body as creatures clawed at her back.

Upon seeing the creatures assaulting Mrs Royce, Miyuki rushed toward them grabbing at the wings of one. "Leave her alone!" She screamed as more fox fire spread from her hands, trying to burn it. "Millie, help her!"

Mille ran over and helped Mrs Royce under the bed with her baby, hitting any creatures that got too close with the candlestick. She could hear her brother fighting in the hall.

Miyuki grabbed a second candlestick and lit it, swiping at the creatures. "Go away!" She yelled. "Leave us! Leave!"

A creature snarled at Miyuki. “Get out of our way or we’ll tear it out of you now instead of waiting for it to be ready.”

"I'm not afraid of you!" Miyuki screamed back, shooting flames at it.

“You should be!” The creature tossed off the flames at a screen. “You thought you screamed loud when that thing was put in you, wait until we take it back.”

"I will not scream for you ever again!" She replied and swung the candlestick at it while she backed away.

The creature snapped its teeth at Miyuki. “You’ll moan.”

Lek shut the creature up with an ax to the face.

Gasping, Miyuki looked at Lek. "Thank you…" She whispered, visibly shaking.

“This room is indefensible.” Lek panted, trying to protect Miyuki and his sister but more creatures were coming in the windows. Difyr was putting up a good fight, but she was a healer, not a fighter. Mrs Royce was cowering under the bed, holding her baby tight.

"What can we do?" Miyuki wished she had her weapons.

“We have to get somewhere we have a chance at taking a stand.” Lek said.

“And where would that be?” Miyuki was crouching by the bed, trying to get Mrs Royce out so they could take her somewhere safe.

Lek thought fast. They had been depending on the Keep’s walls to keep out attackers. He nodded to a door that led to a smaller room next door. When they first got here Difyr had a lot of patients and had segregated them by sex. This other room had no windows. It meant no escape but there would only be one opening for these creatures to attack through. “Go there!”
