Widow Royce came to Buckley village as the young bride of Braeden Royce, local farmer. Their marriage was fraught with problems, the Royce Farm did not fare well and Mrs Royce suffered many miscarriages. Mrs Royce has always wanted to have children so this has been devastating to her.

She mostly kept to herself and her home, isolated from the village by a language barrier. Mrs Royce had learned some of the local language from her husband and farmhands but is still not fluent.

Braedon was in the fields and Mrs Royce was at home when the raiders struck Buckley Village. Mrs Royce was one of the many women of the village who was taken captive by the raiders. Mrs Royce did not want to die and did what she had to survive. After she was rescued a part of Mrs Royce hoped that her husband would be dead so she would not have to tell him what happened. But when she was reunited with her husband he did not ask her about her time being held captive and behaved as if she had never been taken captive and acted as he did when they were newlyweds.

Mrs Royce had become pregnant from her time as a captive, and she is pretty sure that the father was a raider, but Braedon talks like the baby is his.
