JP - The Keep - Healing Room - Bad News but not the Worst News
Difyr opened the door. “What is- get her on the bed.”
Normally Lek would not have charged into a room of rape survivors in various stages of childbirth, but Miyuki was in trouble.
Miyuki’s back was hurting worse, so she had her doubts that this was damage to the child, but she was unsure. The world was blurry and she felt both dizzy and sick to her stomach. “Hngh…” She moaned in pain, having to push at Lek’s chest so she could turn away and vomit. Even now she did not wish to harm him in any way.
“A man attacked Miyuki, had pushed her, I think he tried strangling her.” Lek explained to Difyr in a rush, barely registering his near miss with the vomit, as he set Miyuki on the closest empty bed. “She’s bleeding… there.”
Difyr nodded grimly. “I need to find out where the blood is coming from.” She told the kitsune, already reaching for the waistband of her pants.
Miyuki nodded in understanding, already feeling rather lightheaded. It would be easily figured out where the blood was coming from - the child she so desperately wanted to have was in danger now. All because of one person’s anger. That horrible word - slut - kept ringing through her mind like a bell, reminding her over and over again how pathetic she had been against those that had gotten her pregnant in the first place.
Tears began to stream down her face as reality began to hit.
Lek was holding Miyuki’s hand when he realized what Difyr was doing. He blushed slightly, but was still very worried. “I-I should go.”
Miyuki was out of it, her hand squeezing Lek’s as a wave of pain shot through her. He wouldn’t be able to go with her death grip on him. With her eyes closed, she gritted her teeth and whimpered.
Lek blinked. “Uh, she isn’t letting go.”
“Miyuki and I can trust you to be a gentleman, Lek.” Difyr did not have time for Lek’s modesty. She had spent the day helping women give birth and was unfortunately very familiar with this angle. She got Miyuki’s pants off and gently examined her.
Lek blushed more and focused on Miyuki’s face.
When it was all said and done, Miyuki waited for Difyr to tell her the bad news.
“You didn’t lose the baby.” Difyr did not beat around the bush, she did not want Miyuki worrying any more than she already has. “But you’re going to have to take it easy.”
“Uh…what do you mean by…easy?” Miyuki asked, her free hand rubbing her belly affectionately.
“Bed rest.” Difyr said. “Possibly for the rest of the pregnancy.”
Miyuki looked a little upset and even pouted. “You mean, like…stay in bed?” She asked. “I…I can't sit still for too long. How am I supposed to…?”
“You won’t.” Difyr said simply.
“I can get you whatever you need.” Lek volunteered. He was relieved that Difyr had covered the kitsune with a blanket, and was even more relieved that she would not lose her baby. He could see how badly she wanted it.
“Okay,” Miyuki replied wearily. “Thank you…both of you.” She was going to go stir crazy for the next few months.
Difyr nodded. “You also sprained your tail… It should get better in time.” She put up a screen to give Miyuki some privacy.
“Do you want me to get any of your things from your room?” Lek asked, glancing at his hand which Miyuki was still holding.
A new mother could be heard softly singing her baby a lullaby somewhere in the room.
Miyuki’s ears twitched at the lullaby, finding some comfort in it as she finally released Lek’s hand. “Do you have paper? I can write it down…maybe send a woman to the room so you won’t feel so awkward.”
Lek would have pointed out that he was stronger and could carry more, but realized Miyuki might want some… delicate items. “Millie can probably help.”
"Thank you," Miyuki replied and made sure the blanket covered her from the neck down. It wasn't that she was ashamed of her body, but what had almost been lost. She wanted this child so badly that the very notion of losing it would break her heart. She'd already thought of names and how she would raise them. She was just thankful she still had a child to birth.
Difyr brought Miyuki some paper and something to write with. After Lek got a list he left to get Millie’s help bringing Miyuki what she needed.
Nearby Mrs Royce looked guiltily at Miyuki’s screen.
Miyuki would attempt to sleep, but it never came to her. All she could do was lie there with a hand on her stomach. She hoped that nothing else bad would happen.
