Reflections

Hunter was getting used to his routine after a few days. He would wake up before sunrise and do his morning exercises, which consisted of stretching, running while carrying rocks, push ups with rocks on his back, sit ups with rocks in his hands, handstand push ups, katas and end with meditation. Since he asked before hand he found some nice places to work out in that were away from prying eyes but would not get him in trouble when guards passed him by.

Once he was done he washed off with a bucket of water and rag to remove his daily grime. Then he left to have breakfast with the others at the tables outside. He politely greeted them and showed them respect for his food and answering his questions. Though it did make him look meek to some his actions made other think twice during training. After breakfast he trained with his group as usual and continued to look average in his skills except for his bow. However unlike some of the others his stamina was much higher, as he never complained of being tired nor sore from the exercise. He simply did the tasks required of him and moved on to the next one such as training, tanning, butchering, making composte or hunting.

It was odd for some to see Hunter quietly working and training for his meager 3 silver pieces a day without complaints. Since he was not wasteful with his money on booze and women, Hunter could afford to purchase his daily needs of dried foods, arrowheads, cleaning oils, sleeping clothes and bait materials for hunting.

After a few days had passed he had observed the hustle and bustle of resources being moved to and from the docks. It was a matter of time before the ships left the docks and headed back home. Hunter was looking forward to when they left since he was trying to keep his face out of sight for the most part. He didn't shave for a long time to help disguise himself during his two years of hiding in the forests and on the ship. It wasn't till he had secured his new job as a hunter did he shave and let the stubble grow back. This was an old tactic to throw people off his trail if they were following him. Granted it had been two years he was fired and blamed for the death of his noble boss's daughter. He had no idea if the Noble was still spending money on hunting him. From a financial point it was wasteful and pointless, but he knew that some people were very stubborn and logic did not concern them. It was always in the back of his mind that he would wake up to being attacked by an assassin.

The locals of Ostiarium were also busy setting up the place for the Fall festival as Hunter went about his day. Apparently they were celebrating Hoi, also known as the goddess of Fertility and sex. He had no idea how many time he was told, "Tend to thy body as a beautiful garden, a sturdy tree or a fertile field, for it brings all the fruits and pleasures of life. Till thy earth, entice thy lover, nurture thy child, reap thy harvest." by the locals. He simply smiled and thanked them. The festival would consist of eating, drinking, dancing and singing, which was something new to Hunter. Fun was never part of his training or duty in the past so his only experience of fun was given to him from his deceased beloved. So even though he was not interested in drinking, dancing or finding a partner, he was still curious what he would experience there.
