Ambush Waning
JP with Alexis, Gonyaul and Hunter:
Alexis saw Hunter picking up a spear and deemed that a good idea, slowing down only a second to grab the spear of Alcuin‘s kill before speeding up again.
When she was sure it wouldn’t fall short of its target, she propelled the weapon towards one of the remaining Odonine. Hit or miss, it would at the very least serve as a distraction, hopefully sparing Hunter being piled upon by three people at once.
The spear struck the man who had paused to avoid the falling ruffian with a slit throat. It pierced through his upper back, slipping past his shoulder blade, cracking through a rib, and piercing through the heart as the tip went on its way to play peekaboo out the front. The force of the impact caused the man to fall forward over the other slain companion. The pool of blood between the combination of the two was staining the dull colors of dirt a bright red.
While one man struggled with Hunter up close and personal, the only remaining attacker noticed the spear throw and turned to engage Alexis. He came in blinded by rage; angered beyond belief at how their ambush went so horribly wrong. He swung in desperation; however, if one landed it would do serious damage.
The mercenary acknowledged the danger and received the barrage of attacks in a defensive stance. Between parrying, evasive manoeuvres and selectively mixed in feints and attacks, she was looking for an opening.
His endless offensive approach was beginning to tire out his arm. Alexis could see a slowing down and weakening in his swings.
Gonyaul was coughing still from the brutal choking he just experienced. He was going to have hand marks and bruising on his neck for a few days. And his voice was probably going to be hoarse as well.
Malacost continued to stand overtop of the recovering youth. His grip on the handle of the pickaxe was pulsing with impulsiveness. The only thing keeping him at the moment from carrying it out was the fact Gonyaul wasn’t looking him in the eye, but was instead wheezing into the ground off to the side.
Malacost wanted to see the look in his eyes right before death. Gonyaul was everything he despised. The young man loved life and promoted other to do the same. Malacost hated and was disgusted by life and saw only death worth celebrating. He felt Gonyaul’s existence mocked his misery and pain.
When the clubman brought down his club again in a mighty vertical swing, Alexis conceived it by letting it crash against her sword, supported by her left hand, placed against the flat side of her blade.
The force of the impact caused the blade to bite into her palm, drawing blood.
She twisted to the left, guiding the club in a slide along her sword to the ground.
She continued to pivot around herself, leading her blade in an arc towards the Odonine‘s exposed side.
She could feel his weight led exactly where she had intended. His channeled momentum went downward and the club beyond his reach, falling to the ground. Her arcing blade bit into his exposed side. He barked in pain and wrapped his arm around the blade and her arm, pinning her arm to his side and the blade wedged into his flesh.
The man took his free hand and violently drove a punch up and into her midsection. He made another war cry erupt into her face as he went to do it again, drenching her face in projectile saliva.
