The weather had held up, at least for their first day of travel. Islana now carried a spear, well, mostly made. Along, of course, with her bow and arrows.
When Alexis presented the idea to the huntress, Islana went with it, thinking it was a good idea. So the second night of packing, went to making her spear with tips, on how to make it, from Alexis
Of course, more practice would be needed but the general ideas of how to hold it and what to, very basically, do with it was what the woman currently working with.
The mercenary had sent the young huntress, who was doubling as a scout for this, ahead to find a place to camp as the afternoon was growing later.
Islana had taken off, on horseback, to that. It was noticeable that the trees and woods had gotten less and less the more the group moved towards their destination. Hunting in the woods was easier, as far, as Islana was concerned but she would make it work.
The redhead had Alexis's briefing from earlier in the morning, on her mind. The older woman's words lingered in her mind. She knew to definitely not approach the tribes, if there were any to be seen. To be cautious because the terrain was different and rough. Pretty much anything she had been told remained in the young woman's mind.
This day though, her eyes didn't spot any other people, tribe or otherwise. Just a few animals, some birds flying overhead and a piece of land that looked good for camping. Ears didn't hear any real dangers.
Her feet hit the ground as Islana got off the horse, walking over the ground to make sure it wasn't too soft, muddy, or any other problems there might be. It seemed like what they were looking for.
Islana got back on the horse, headed back to the group. It was a little hard to calculate timing exactly but a rough estimate would work.
"There is a place to camp about 10 minutes ahead, a little past that bend."
Pointing the bend out to Alexis, who could tell everyone else.
"I'm going to go a little ahead and get us something for dinner."
With that off the redhead went to try to secure some meat. Based on what she had seen, small game wouldn't be particularly difficult to acquire. So, that was what the huntress was going to be aiming for.
