Not Happening

As Hunter left the ship he calmly made his way passed the the crew unloading the cargo. He was glad to be off that stinky ship and breathing cleaner air. Granted the locals didn't smell as bad as the ship's crew, but they still smelt like cattle since bathing seemed to be a luxury. In the past he was forced to bathe since it would offend the nobles if he was smelly. After a while he got used to smelling nice especially as he got close to the Noble's daughter. Sadly those moments were long gone and brought great pain to Hunter.

Hunter was careful to avoid any crowds since he had no desire to deal with pickpockets. When anyone slightly approached him he changed his direction and pretended to forget something or was lost. Then he would change his direction again. Eventually he made his way to the table to register his future job with the officials. When asked about his skill set, Hunter replied he was good at hunting. Of course he left out the detail of hunting people. Like many of the other sell-swords he was directed to the south-western corner of the Barracks district. It is designated for the town's guard, hunters and the lower ranked soldiers in the Colonial Army. It is where he would be lodged for the time being. Hunter was told to report to Stoneshade Keep tomorrow at dawn break by one of the Sergeants.

Hunter nodded as he left the table and made his way to the food stalls. Since his rations was near its end he decided to pick up some food for the next few days till he could hunt for more. The stalls were limited in what they had to offer. Either hunter came to late or the locals didn't have much to sell by this point. Seeing as he didn't need much, he stashed his meal into his pack and paid the vendors. Then he looked around to see which way he needed to go to the barracks. Along the way he passed the tavern named the "Drunk Hare" and took a peek inside since it was loud and rowdy. There he saw some very armed and very ugly thugs having some not so nice words with the young arrogant noble he saw on the ship. He also noticed the fancy female priestess near the source of trouble and some of the mercenaries in the back. He shook his head no as he walked away from the tavern to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Granted he could go play hero and try to cozy up to the church folk, nobles and other righteous types, but he was done with that life. All that awaited him was betrayal, crappy pay and pain when dealing with their type. Ironically he could get the same crappy pay as a hunter or soldier with half the grief. So he saw no reason to even bother with the petty quarrels of those inside the tavern. After stepping away he adjusted his backpack and began walking to the barracks.
