Ostiarium
Earlier that morning, Sir Zane met with Harbormaster Seros Thert, alongside a cohort of engineers, dockworkers, sailors, and soldiers, to assess the damage wrought by the previous evening's fiery sabotage. Together, they discussed defensive measures and repair priorities.
Having completed his tasks there, Zane, accompanied by Captain Carver, proceeded towards Suncross Square to confer with Brothers Percei and Bern at the Shrine of Kupen about a preemptive protection plan.
Soldiers has been stationed patrol the area following revelations from tortured prisoners about the assassins' next targets. He also oversaw a preliminary sweep of the apothecary, securing anything of immediate use or importance. Sir Zane planned to establish a small outpost or surveillance operation to monitor any unusual activities.
During the discussion, a curious sensation stirred in Eudon Zane's veins, distracting him momentarily. He glanced around, as if trying to pinpoint the source of this peculiar disturbance that tugged at the iron in his blood like a magnet.
Initially, Sir Zane dismissed the trail of silvery light as simply a reflection or refraction caused by glass, water, or a mirror. However, the compulsion to take another look was overwhelming.
The strange shimmer of light, behaving more like a shifting mist, seemed to defy the shadows cast upon it. Surveying his surroundings, Zane noted that none of the passersby or his companions appeared to notice it.
"Captain, continue without me. I've just remembered a private matter that requires my attention," Zane excused himself.
Carver nodded, "Of course, Sir." She sensed a hint of unease from the old knight, so she didn’t bother giving a sassy remark or complaint. Unbeknownst to them, Voah Sahnsuur was rummaging around inside the apothecary not far away.
As Eudon Zane focused on the trail of light and followed it with his eyes, it narrowed to a mere thread that wove a path across the square and through the thoroughfare toward Lowood.
Was this… magik? He didn’t think so. It had to be a sign from Ereuhin… But why here and now? He touched the Holy symbol of Ereuhin on his breast plate.
