Preparations

Ostiarium
As Tarmen and Alexis approached Stoneshade Keep, the atmosphere had thickened with the tension of a city bracing for conflict. The streets leading to the Keep bustled with soldiers and townsfolk, all moving with a heightened sense of urgency. Voices carried orders and updates, and the clanging of metal rang out from nearby forges, intensifying as they drew closer to the gatehouse.

Passing through the large, open doors, the duo was greeted by the familiar sight of the Keep's stables, a sturdy stone structure filled with the sounds of neighing horses and the scent of fresh straw, leather, and manure. The stable hands were noticeably busier than usual, attending to a continuous flow of old and new horses from scouts, sappers, and wranglers. Around them, the stable was a flurry of activity; horses were being groomed and equipped, some prepped for immediate dispatch.

As they dismounted, the stablemaster quickly approached to take their horses. He offered a brief nod. Leaving their steeds in capable hands, Tarmen and Alexis made their way towards the Keep’s inner sanctum. The sounds of the stable faded behind them, replaced by the more somber tones of strategy and command emanating from ahead.

As they entered the great hall, they found it semi-transformed into a hub of military planning. Maps were spread across large tables, and armored soldiers were standing by or ambling about, awaiting orders. Some soldiers had various accessories of purple flair, like bandanas, capes, and armbands; others wore black and gold uniforms with runic markings and metal or cloth mouth guards. Sir Zane was not present, but the Purger and the Duke were looking at a map and speaking in quiet conversation.
