Decisions to Make

Watching as the men laid themselves out one by one on the ground, pleading for their lives, the red-haired leader said nothing to any of them for the moment. She thanked Agizul for the information then her eyes turned to the old man that was still staring at her, the one not pleading for his life. The one whose hatred went through her like a knife.

Maybe, it was that the evidence pointed to the men in front of her, maybe it was her life had left her less likely to just buy what people said, it could have been the thousands of years of wisdom inside of her but Islana did not believe the men on the ground. She did not at all think they were innocent.

The question was what to do about it. Doing nothing was not an option, they had tried to take the life of Sister Locust and that had to have repercussions. Doing the wrong thing however might send the wrong message. Outright execution, while an option, left a bad taste in her mouth. There were other options.

The young leader told the men on the ground to sit up and be quiet. They obeyed. She then asked for silence from the crowd, who also obeyed.

“Does anyone have anything they want to say on behalf of any of these men? Now is the time to speak up.” Islana then waited to see if anyone came forward.
