No need for keys

Alexis wasted no time admiring the now headless body, but strode forward.

She put away the dagger so she could drag her ally with her and raced to turn the corner of the building. Already more arrows were whizzing past their heads as the mercenary did her best to cover her companion, earning some grazing shots for her efforts. With adrenaline cursing through her veins, she hardly felt the pain.

They barreled to the right together and found themselves at what was apparently the front entrance of the low structure, probably a warehouse in the city’s prime, now boarded up and abandoned.

Alexis took only seconds to make a decision. They couldn’t play catch with their pursuers for long, there were most likely enough of them to surround them, and they needed to get out of the open and force them into melee combat. And they had a better chance to do so in that building.

The mercenary let go of her ally’s arm, and ran in a tangent to the door, turning sharply to charge at it and barrel into it full force.
Thankfully, the boards had suffered enough of the ravages of time to accommodate the Garrahn’s intentions, instead of foiling them in an embarrassing and most likely deadly manner. Which had been a possibility she had acknowledged, but hey, you only live once, which was doubly true when there was a horde of assassins on their heels.

As it was, she crashed right through the door, and swiftly picked herself up from the ground gesturing her companion to follow. She would feel that one in the morning, if there was a morning to be had.

The past owners had been kind enough to leave some empty crates and decrepit furniture, and the pair rushed to make good use of them for cover.
