Voah could tell the honest truth took the wind out of the sails of his hopeful idea. She made some valid points and he valued her judgement enough not to follow up with, ~well, had anyone tried it yet?~ This brought them back to the beginning on where to start solving the problem.
Gonyaul considered creating a simplified level of abstraction in order to come up with a plan. And if that would work, perhaps it could be replicated to a more complex and grandeur level. But where to start applying this approach was still a mystery.
His gift and conversation idea off the table he looked to the more experienced. “You have an idea?”
He suddenly had another idea. “Oh wait, if no talk to people in power, maybe we can just go talk to the gods and goddesses and get them to stop holy war?” Go straight to the source.
It is strange how the mind works. Voah came up with the same idea and a similar one just as he asked, but quickly dismissed them as folly. But when he voiced the thought aloud... she stopped to contemplate the possibilities.
She couldn't say for sure, but could only assume what would happen if they were somehow able to confront all of the Pillars and the alleged Twin Gods of the Ozainae about the situation and ask them to make peace.
Upon meeting Vastad, she had expected the worst, that she would be immediately judged and subsequently smitten, but in retrospect, the God of War seemed to speak plainly and somewhat reasonably.
Her thoughts began to scatter and trail off from there...
What if she could speak with the other Pillars. Could she evoke them? Would they even listen to her at this point? Voah had wished to speak with them her whole life, before her blind faith was shattered like a broken mirror. After meeting Vastad, things had changed. The revelation convinced her of their existence and yet... somehow her confidence in them was shaken even more..
Voah believed that if she was capable of doing something herself, she would... If there was an enemy, she would first try to learn about them and then confront them head on. Why didn't the Gods face their enemies directly?
Vastad claimed that Voah was not a leader... perhaps not in his ways of war, leading men into battle... perhaps she was more like a pathfinder for others to follow shortly after.
She pondered the tenet, 'Suffer not the witch to live...'
Did humanity make some agreement with the Pillars in the distant past? What did humanity trade for doing the will of the Pillars? Protection from magik? You scratch my back, I scratch yours?
Why did it come down to magik? They must fear it as the Helians did... Was it the one thing that could destroy the Pillars?
It went on like this for at least half a minute before Gonyaul waved a hand in front of Voah's face to draw her attention back to the hovel.
"I honestly don't know..."
