The Rabbit Follows

After he shut the door, Gonyaul paced back and forth like a lizard caught in a box. He was already terribly worried, for a variety of reasons. His mind instantly painting potential outcomes, none of them favorable. He realized these worries were but shadows of neurotic thinking about the future; however, he just couldn’t seem to help himself. What if something bad happened to Voah and he could have been there to stop it.

He could tell he was going to get no peace waiting around. Yet, he also couldn’t necessarily join in a cause that he believed wrong and in conflict to his sense of morality. ~What if I just follow from a distance and make sure she is safe? I am not helping them pursue their goal, I am on a rescue mission for Voah, because things always seem to go wrong.~ He talked himself into it.

Gonyaul covered himself completely in his desert attire and grabbed the staff. He also took a small bag of some snacking morsels in case this was going to take awhile. He had gotten ready quickly and emerged from the hovel as the mighty tracker. ~wait!? Which way did they go?~ He quickly looked about and noticed them moving off in the abandoned sector. ~whew, that was fortunate~ he thought to himself.

Gonyaul followed after, keeping a very sizable distance between him and them; just enough to keep them in his sight. At times he projected where they might be heading and would allow himself to lose sight of them briefly. This allowed him to take better routes with pedestrian traffic. He didn’t have the same concerns of being looked for or mistaken as Helian, which permitted him a freedom of movement that significantly paid off in keeping up with them and tabs on the routes they took in the alleys while he would get glimpses from major routes when possible. He only went into alleys and side streets when necessary. ~I’m doing rather well at spying.~ The Rabbit encouraged himself. Little did he know that he wasn’t as great as he thought. Voah knew he was tailing them for quite a while now.

He continued in this manner until they eventually came to a halt. He peaked out from around a corner far behind them and assumed they found their destination. Should he sneak up on them or continue watching from afar?
