Voah was good at reading people, but she detected only religious fervor from Alcuin. What Gonyaul witnessed may well have been the zealousness that many of the faithful had against the natives, not that she agreed with that sort of ignorant zealousness against innocent lives, but she considered that maybe Alcuin viewed himself as a hero. That kind of energy is ecstatic. This witch was a special case; she was clearly from Helias. It was something Gonyaul would never understand.
"Alcuin is depending on me as an Arbiter of his faith to do something about this... I have to play that out and help him where I can, otherwise we may as well leave this city and be on our way. I don't think I can live with that. I haven't given up on asking questions and finding out the truth and I appreciate your perspective. I REALLY do. Trying to empathize with a Helian witch is not going to be easy, but I will do what I can. But I make no promises that she will live and if I tell Alcuin no, he is as good as dead and we have one less ally in this city that hates us."
Voah rummaged through her book pack and pulled out the Road To Salvation, skimming the pages and finding one particular text.
"But your people's perspective is also based on past experiences. Did you know that hundreds of your people fought in the great battles? And the first Inquisitor was a Vaux? Did your people tell you that? So... what will YOU do?"
