Voah didn’t need to hear any more about Islana’s suffering. Her heart was already on fire by the mere presence of a witch close by, witnessing her attacking another Helian no less. Gonyaul would have to hear it all and suffer silently at the truth.
“There is a fine line between dying for your faith and stupidity, Master Alcuin, and you seem to understand that… or else you surely wouldn’t have survived this long. I have simply stretched… or broadened that line to dive deeper into our faith… It has been… trying.”
Then came the part that she knew Gonyaul would hate to hear. She didn’t know whether he could or would forgive it.
“The witch will die by my hand. But I will not not be so foolish to rush to my death as I did last night. This may take time.”
She didn’t think Alcuin would like the idea of waiting any longer, but it had to be done safely. After all, what use was someone of the faith if they had died fighting magik and know one knew about it or lived to continue the fight?
He took Voah's words and nodded despite obviously not agreeing. She was after all an Arbiter of the Inquisition. She had asked a few questions, but none of her words really spoke of a real desire to act to him. But he did not push. There was a deeper game at play here. More than met the eye and he would enjoy learning more about it. Plus having an Arbiter around would come handy. Despite her lack of zeal and action.
"I know where she is staying..." He offered noting she had not once asked how he had found her and looking at the man that was clearly becoming more and more upset at all the talk of death.
Voah certainly hoped Alcuin knew where the witch was staying after following her through the desert, it would have been a shame to come so far only to lose her in the city. She wouldn’t say that aloud, of course. He wasn’t an Arbiter after all and even they had a hard time tracking down people. The creed was a good example of that, but that whole situation had been botched from the start.
“That’s good. She likely won’t stay there long after last night, unless you know more. Where is she staying?”
"The temple." He said plainly.
“Well, that makes it easy, doesn’t it?” she said sarcastically, shaking her head. Her eyes shifted as she pondered the scenario.
“What is a Helian witch from Fang doing in the Ozainae temple? The whole city despises our presence...” she spoke her thoughts aloud to herself.
She hadn’t slept for over 24 hours. She would need to sleep to come up with some realistic answers.
"I would offer you accommodations if I could, but as you can see, we have slim pickings ourselves. I will honor your vow and allow you to join me in this. We can meet up later today after we both get some rest. You choose the place. Together we form a plan that doesn't end up with a good man like you dead. Agreed, Master Alcuin?"
He nodded. Seemed he had overstayed his welcome. "I can return before sunset." He said flatly and stood up to leave. "You have my thanks Arbiter Sahnsuur. I owe you my life." he said.
"You have honored me in Fang, and even now, in your tireless search for justice. My thanks go to you, sir."
Malacost named a time and location to meet and left after nodding at Gonyaul.
