JP with Omni and Lorem
Gonyaul felt lighter than air seeing that Voah had a favorable reaction to the setup. He continued with that momentum, took her hand, and brought her on a tour of the cards representing kagim markings and how they were organized around them. He was careful not to go into any details other than what they were called, translating the vaux and showing her the sign language.
Her beating heart was starting to settle as she listened to Gonyaul’s explanation and studied his signs. As he spoke, she decided to cool down and poured them both some water from an old clay pitcher and cup which they had scavenged from the abandoned house then she unburdened herself from her headscarf and sword, causing the map to fall to the floor. She had nearly forgotten about it, but now picked it up and set it aside momentarily.
“Oh! That… No, I… well I… I sort of… took it? From someone…” she grimaced nervously, expecting a good chiding from him.
How was she going to explain this?
Gonyaul tilted his head, slightly confused by her response. “Does person know you take?”
He had a hunch by how she said it that what she meant to say was ‘stole it’. This potentially did not forebode well, either for her character or their situation. When people have things stolen sometimes they catch on and go looking for them. The last thing they wanted was to draw drama and discord when they were trying hard to blend in and carve out a peaceful niche in the city.
Perhaps she had a good reason? He was all ears as he patiently waited for her to explain in further detail.
"I certainly hope they don't know that I took it..."
She started biting her inner lip in preparation for her confession.
"So... you know how I have been exploring and people-watching?"
She explained how she had noticed that the dark robed people were armed and suspicious as citizens had seemed to despise and fear them; how she had been inquisitive about a group of people and followed them, the sort of thing that always brought her both joy and trouble; how they led her into a desolate and sparsely populated ward of the city and how she had walked right into their den without being spotted.
"They seemed to be celebrating some successful task, but it seemed... malevolent... I meant to leave then but I was trapped for a while and... well, I saw a few of these in a dark room and I... I thought we could use it."
She grabbed it up and took it closer to Gonyaul and the small lamp that lit their room where she unraveled it to have a better look upon it.
Her face fell.
"Bless my soul!" she exclaimed in a surprised whisper at what she saw.
