Obelisk of Fate
Alexis was right. Has the night fell on Gra'akast and the great Oasis where it nestled, most penitents either returned to the city or to the many camps dotted outside its great walls.
She had kept herself away from crowds, covered and avoided contact as much as possible and so far it had work. She had managed to blend in among the faithful. But then again she could not shake the feeling that they had other concerns in her mind.
She could tell these crowds had come to witness something. Something she suspected was connected to the central figure of their faith, Sister Locust.
Later that night when she saw many of the campfires petter out and the noises that echoed in the wind subsided, she walked towards the Obelisk.
As she approached its base, her eyes kept being drawn to its spire, the top most part of the stone pillar. The closer she got the more she had to crank her neck up. Alexis had never seen something so tall and wondered how it had been raised.
Drawing closer she noticed dozens upon dozens of offerings at its massive square base. She realised it was not as smooth as she had originally thought.
Her chest started to pound in her chest as she stared looking for clues...
