JP with Lucian, Winteroak and Bandorchu
Hardly any sleep, muscles in knots from prolonged tension, and lingering sense of unease despite the departure of the black-robed trio. Yep, those were the makings of a fantastic day.
Alexis did her best to get her protesting body into working condition and did a routine check of their equipment.
“You alright? Circumstantially, I mean.”
she asked her companion. Last night had been shit for everyone involved on their side, but she felt they had been very intent on wearing Tarmen down.
Despite spending most of the night eyeing the assassins from his sleep roll, he was in a good mood when morning came. With some stretching, he figured he had a few hours before the fatigue really set in.
He met Alexis’s question with a chipper smirk.
“Have to say, been the closest to home I have felt in some time. Two groups ready to tear into each other after some testin’, not sure if they had fear for you or just didn’t want to bother. How about yourself?”
Another addition for his upbeat mood was the (so far) lack of theft. Always a bonus.
Alexis chuckled a little and smiled at Tarmen’s answer.
“Lacking nostalgia and could do with more sleep, but blood and limbs still where they belong. So could be worse, all things considered.”
She finished her equipment check-up and gazed at the sun rising to soon burn their hides again for a moment.
Finally she shook her hair out, temporarily getting rid of some of the ever present sand and rearranged the scarf over her head.
“I’m sure our friends here are even more thrilled to travel with us after this incident.”
An hour after your caravan left the oasis, after water skins had been filled and animals fed, you continued your journey onwards towards the Holy City of Gra'akast.
Another day like the last few. Hot, dusty, sand getting into every nook and cranny, and the constant sweat and thirst.
You see that one of the merchants stops in his track and shielding his eyes with his hands is looking to the left of your path. After a few moments he shouts something and leaves the caravan path. You can't see anything due to the glare of the sun but the others bring the camels to a stop.
The man walks almost 10 metres from your position before he turns to you and waving his arms calls for someone. Alexis and Tarmen decide to investigate while the others tend to the animals.
